I am a 2g crankwalk victim 3 times (slow learner or dumass). I have a piston question but will first describe what I have done in case anyone sees a mistake I am making.
I REALLY do not want to rebuild again.
I plan to use car for street/daily use and don't expect to go over 300 hp. My car was a stock 95 GST and 5 speed manual trans. For now I will stick with the 2g head and turbo.
The hybrid I am building started with 1g non-turbo block that does not need to be bored.
I modified the 1g block with oil squirters and modified it to take the 2g oil pump assembly.
The 6 bolt crank rubbed against the oil squirters so I ground down the crank to clear the squirters and am going to have the crank balanced.
I plan to use the 1g rods. I assume I would do well with the existing 2g turbo pistons and have the rods bored to fit the larger 2g wrist pins - or -
should I stay with the 1g non-turbo pistons. I have read FAQs and posts for the past couple of hours and there are plenty of different opinions; your thoughts on this are appreciated.
Any thoughts on where to have rods bored or what to expect to pay?
Also, somewhere along the way in this project, I ended up with an extra set of pistons and rods. Are there markings on the pistons to tell which is which? Are higher compression pistons the ones with the top almost flat as opposed to the top being recessed?
The 2g block had a fitting for the coolant that the 1g block doesn't. What is the best way to hook up that coolant line?
From what I've read, I should not have any problems mounting to the transmission; is this correct?
Thanks
