brown goo comming out of knock sensor =bad?

Hi guys!I just bought my third turbo 1g and was just checking everything over and found that i have real thick sticky brown goo comming out of the back of my knock sensor.I think i have phantom knock cause of noisy lifters and real bad horsepower but was just checking all my bases.What do u guys think?Any way of testing just the knock sensor?thanks!

Might be time for a new sensor. Also, do a search in the tech section. Someone made a write up of welding that center hole up and it helped solve his knock problems.

That brown ooze is the knock sensor test. If the sensor is bad, it will start oozing. Time for a new knock sensor.
