I have A 97 gst, my trans broke yesterday and luckily made it to my house. Now it is stuck in gear I can't roll it at all. Or start the car as soon as I let the clutch out it stalls.

Now my question is is there anyway to get it back into neutral or anything so I can at least get the car on a trailer or will I have to jack it up and take the tranny out before I can do that?

Thanks in advance guys/gals

If you get some help just push the clutch down and then have somebody push you or pull you. This is will only work if the clutch is disenaging. From the sounds of it this would work. Otherwise if your shift forks are broke there is no other way to put it in netural.

Yeah I just went outside and tried pushing the clutch in and having someone push the car and still wouldn't move. Sooo what does this mean? Is it more then just the trans messed up or what?

Oh and what do u mean by take the cables off the transmission? What cables are you talking about? Will that free it up or no?

Because when the clutch is pushed in it's just pushing a switch on the back of the peddle. So the clutch is engaged when pushed in but I'm guessing since the actual trans must be completely seized that is what's stopping it from moving.

If you remove the cables off the transmission, You should be able to change gears by your hands. I'm sure a quick search on this will show you what others are talking about. If your able to get it into natural by hand it may be another failure besides the shift forks themselves

Ok cool good info. Well I'm going to buy a trans tomorrow so I'm not worried about what is wrong with the trans just hoping it's nothing else besides the trans.

Could anything else be F'ed up also?

Anyone know how to remove the cables and try and put the car in nuetral by hand?
