broken thrust bearing

I have a 96 spyder that I've been having a few problems with the crank not turning. I pulled out the crank today and found this http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b326/dannimax/20131210_221822_zps9da3dcae.jpg I haven't seen this happen before. Has anyone else or anyone have any on it?

They're not broken, you have a 3-peice thrust bearing (which didn't come in 95-96 blocks). Make sure the block is machined for a split thrust bearing, if not then you have the wrong bearings.

How do I check to see if it's machined for a split bearing or not? Do I need to take it to a shop?
