Soooo what do you do if you break the line right out of the top of the fuel pump assembly.... I slipped while trying to remove the fuel line fitting that is such a PITA, and ended up twisting the fuel line, which then gave me a nice hole right where the fuel line enters the fuel pump assembly.... I couldn't have been the first person to do this, so how do you fix this???

I've read some other posts about similar things, however mine is basically RIGHT where the line meets the "sender unit" i don't have much of anything to work with.

on my 2G, I broke the fuel line going to the engine in half. DAmn thing was corodded to hell and the other 2 connectors also snapped in half. Mitsu graveyard had some tips at repairing my fuel pump assembly, but I ended up finding a used fuel pump assembly for 30 bucks from a kid parting out his 2G.

I don't have any tips about patching up fuel lines [ i have no experience, so i'm not going to chime in on this subject]. The only thing I know is to NOT use JBweld, as I've read everywhere that gas eats away at it FAST.

Also, 2g AWD fuel pump assemblys are different than the FWD fuel pump assemblys, so if you do end up looking for a new 'used' fuel pump assembly, make sure it is from an AWD dsm if 1G fuel pump assemblys are like the 2G ones.

If not, then it might be substantially easier. Fuel pump assemblys for 2Gs are a bi*** for me to find, let alone finding an AWD fuel pump assembly. Check part traders, classifieds here, local car forums, and online part places like mitsu graveyard.

I would call up mitsu graveyard, and see if they have any tips to repair it.

yeahhh... and after just breaking the line clean off... (I decided it was already broken, might as well at least get the thing out...) started taking the 6 litte blots that hold the assembly in... at this point i found out that 3 of these bolts are 8 mm... and 3 are smaller than that. WTF sooo i try finding a socket that fits the others... no such socket seems to exist. so using vise-grips i broke one clean off, and now have 2 misshapen ones. So i'm trying to figure out a "gasoline safe" method of removing those last two bolts... Damn IL and their massive amount of salt every winter...
