Are any of you guys running an ISC or using the throttle blade opened a little for the idle? I am in the middle of putting my car together and and trying to figure out what to do about that. :talon:

This is a thread I started a few months back on the AEM forums. It covers most everything you will need. Should you have any more questions feel free to contact me. Unless you are running a standalone ecu, the only way to use any sort of ISC or IAC would be to machine an adaptor plate to mate up to your stock mitsu throttle body. However at this point if you are using a mustang TB on the stock ecu, you may as well go standalone. I am using the Ford IAC with the AEM EMS.

We don't run IACs on the mustang setups. Thats what the idle screw works fine for.

Actually I am running an IAC on the mustang throttle body with a good amount of sucess.

Not really sure of what psi spring is in my Turbo XS BOV, so does anyone know what psi the 1g BOV is? and if this would work to help prevent breakin T/B shafts, thanks

i have read all the threads on the aftermarket tbs do they all really break so easy and if they do why go though that trouble of getting them why not just use a 1g

Hello guys,
I to have broken throttle bodys on my setup, I had a conversation w/the local tuning shop guys and they said that on there dyno, there dsm racecar actually showed them why the TB's break... it is compresser surge. The TB shaft will actually get "blown" open very vrey quickly after you let off on a High boost shift, putting extreme pressure on the throttle stop and the shaft, the ONLY reason they knew this was they saw it happen. That would explain why my Accufab TB looked like it got beaten to death (on the throttle stop) before the shaft eventually broke. We used to just pop off the nub on the throttle cable but once we changed to a stronger led ended cable we started breaking the TB's. I hope this helps someone, We will be changing to a Tial Bov and the weak spring to hopefully solve this problem...

Amazing,
I know the BBK's suck, I have always known that. They machine the shaft too thin. I have been running the accufab for about 6-8 months now, with no problems... knock on wood. I do not have any additional throttle stops other than what is already on the throttle body.

I'm still holding strong..................................I highly recommend getting a light spring for the blow off valve(tial) Lee

Gets a lot of strain on it the the garage eh? :p

Yup....It"ll be back at the track soon!! Took it out yesterday with the stock wheels and tires, got on it hard in 3rd, and it left 4ft black marks :D Damn stock wheels!

Get them dam wheels and put down some good times. You will be back at the track befor I am, I am sure. How is the maft working in the wife's car?

i am thinking about pulling my iac, is there a plate i need to use to cover the opening or just unplug it or can i leave the isc motor out?

You need to make a plate

And I believe Lee runs the 7psi spring, It held for him at the track last night making 136mph passes :thumb:

Yup I use the 7psi spring, and still holding strong. Lee

the spring doesnt have so much to do with how its going to hold boost, but at what amount of vaccum the BOV will open, because no matter what you have the spring pressure, plus manifold pressure holding the valve closed. but when you let off the throttle, and the manifold sees vaccum, it will either open easy or hard depending on what bov spring you have. it would likely be a dumb idea to run say a 15 psi spring (note: tial does not sell these) because its very unlikely that your motor will see 15 psi of vaccum.

I phones my local Tial distruter and they said there were no springs avaiable for the BOV's? Do you have a part number or is it the same as one of the Wastegate springs sizes? Thanks Ron

I got mine from Force Performance..........Give them a call Lee

What about the 75mm throttle bodys off of the Camaro, Firebird, LS1 style motors?

They have the tps and ISC. Just a thought cause I'm going to 3inch intercooler piping with the 3.5inch gm maf. And all these horror stories are making me shy away... :|
