Prostreetdsmx1 - i agree with you but in the end people will do what they want to do. Getting on someone for not referring to you is kind of tacky IMHO (but that's off topic)

oh i know what you mean bud. like i said it was more of a rant than anything else. it just kind of get frustrating when you spend countless hours replying to e-mails, pm's, IM's and phone calls and then see people who took advantage of my experience and knowledge with the product take their business to some place that hasn't done any of that.

hopefully you can understand my frustration with that.

that being said i hope no one was offended by that, just a rant.

Byrd, You coolant temps are high... is that a fresh build? Fresh HG?

Yea, the whole motor is brand new and i have a cometic. Stock 1g temp sensors are rated at 190 deg (2g i believe is 180 so there's a slight diff. which you may or may not know). I used to run at 206-210 daily with no real problems - it is a tit high though (and it makes tuning a little more fun). I plan on getting a koyo and that was a good eye on your part :thumb:

But anywho - back on topic

The install is pretty easy if you know the short cuts. If you want you can pay me to drop them in when you swing by for your SAFC. It would be cheap, It will take about a hour to drop the cams in. No need to wast money on gears... just drop them in straight up. You will notice a differans with your T28.

Also dont forget to get them form the best vendor you can, prostreetdsmx1! He is always here in the forums offering help and post good info.

an hour for cams? thats quick.. what are the "shortcuts" that you are referring to?

an hour for cams? thats quick.. what are the "shortcuts" that you are referring to?

yeah, i got them to about an hour too. once you have done so many it's just like clock work.

10-4 to that Martin, or when you blow head gaskets weakly, same thing...
Shortcuts... well first off I don't redo the timing belt (assuming the timing belt is pretty new), I set the motor to TDC, zip tie the belt to the gears (very tight, 2 on each gear). Then I rig the gears up to the hood to hold them upright with tension (I use wire for this), it is important that the belt doesn't come off the crank sprocket behind the crank pulley. After that it is straight forward, pull the cam caps, drop the cams in straight up and pry the gears back on. It is very important that everything is all lined up perfectly when you are done, and that can take a little experience.

Here is a pic, you can kind of see my gears rigged up.

will these cams be fine with manley springs, retainers, and keepers?

I think JessGSX runs Manley valvetrain on the BC280's. She went 11.5 on a 50 trim and pump gas with that setup. The Best thing to do is call Brian Crower with your manley specs in hand and ask him. I would not accept a answer that I got on a forum as fact.

To hijack my own thread.....Is there any difference between the Crower and BC valve springs?

To answer my own question:

http://www.briancrower.com/makes/mitsubishi/4g63.shtml

The Brian Crower 272's are designed to be plug and play and to be dropped right in (dialing them in is not neccessary) and they can be used with stock valve spirngs.
The Brian Crower 280's recommend tuning and ECU mods,
and required the upgraded valves springs kit BC0100.

The 272's and 280's can be found at the VIP Garage site for $305. !! a set which I think is a phenominal deal, and I will be ordering a set of 272's from them next week

The BC0100 kit can also be found there for $220.

I ordered mine today. They had 5 sets left on order from BC, and BC had 30 total in stock. They've been selling like hotcakes at that price and no wonder. I doubt they last much longer as BC is already backordered on inventory.

maperformance.com (a new vendor) has BC cams for $289.99 shipped and springs & retainers for $209.99 shipped.

You know that prostreetdsmx1 has been in this thread giving much support and answering everyones questions... that is the type of vendors I want to have! It is a shame to sell his company short for a few buck on somthing that you are already getting a steal of a deal on. You have not seen MAPerformance on here answering questions have you? He is always helping the common DSMer. Also, I called Brian Crower the other day and he told me "I have never heard of them" when I asked him about MAPerformance. That came straight from Brian Crower.

He has earned your buis.

you go and be faithful to whomever you want and pay more, IMO why pay $345 for something from someone when you can get the exact same thing from someone else for $40-$60 cheaper? You are getting the exact same product just cheaper. Brian Crower is always there to answer everyones questions about his products no matter where you buy them from.

I hope nobody catches any of these people (who advocate that one ignore free market principles) shopping at walmart. There goes more US manufacturing jobs. Paying more for the exact same product is just another form of corporate welfare on a smaller scale.

Hey guys! Didn't catch this thread until today, being that we just joined the site last week! I just wanted to say thank you for all of the orders, and let you know that we are here to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. I'm going to try my best to contribute to this forum on a daily basis, but if I don't get a chance to answer your question don't hesitate to give us a call!

Even after business hours the shop phone forwards to my cell phone. We are here to provide this community with the best pricing out there, while at the same time providing superior customer service.

We completely understand that many DSMers are loyal to one shop or another, it is simply our goal to provide a quality of service that is unlike any other in order to gain your business.

Thanks for the space!
