I did what TSIfreek said and I'm still scared now...
I put it on the pan side only and hand tight for one day, then torqued down the next day. It still squished out a little bit doh.
 
youll be fine, too much rtv is when you tighten the bolts, and rtv drips onto the floor or hangs off by an inch.
