hello,

I have a question about my stoppers, I own a 91 galant gsx, and I swapped in the 4g63t. Now my question is, where do i go for upgraded rotors. I've decided to retain the 4 lug instead of switching to 5 lug. But I can't find any good performance rotors for the 4 lug setup, and also I'll be upgrading to the vr4 dual piston calipers in front, i'm not sure of the size of the rotor for that upgrade either. So pretty much who knows of any good performance companies that have the solution to my question???

What exactly where you needing the big brakes for? Autox or just DD? If its just for DD, the dual piston setup with some good pads and maybe some SS brake lines will suffice. Talk to the guys at prostreet, I buy from them all the time, I even got my dad going there for parts for his econoline van and my moms sentra:p . They :rocks: .

Just curious why you stayed with the 4 lug setup?

I'm quite curious myself also ...

An option for you would be to pick up 5 lug hubs, then slap on the 11" big brake kit from DSS for around $550 ... Or you can step up to the 13" for $750 :thumb:

Pretty much if the rally galants can use the 4 lug hub setup and drift in dirt then that proves to me that I really don't have to mess with anything, and that the 4 lug hub setup has proven itself worthy as far as a dd car. And the reason why i can't do the big brake setup is b/c I'm poor as hell but i got a dream, and it invovles the 4g63t merging with the galant gsx. Pretty much my budget is 150 a week, I'm a struggling computer student trying to make it in the it field. I've had this car for about four years and i'm not getting rid of it. I'm not trying to make this into a sap story about my life just letting you guys know where i'm coming from!!

on the "big brake upgrade" from a 3000gt where do you get the brakets from?

also, I have 92 3000gt vr4 rotors and 4 piston calipers from my dearly departed vr4, just want to know if they will fit my car.

Those calipers and bracket just bolt up to the spindle/knuckle.

The VR4 caliers need custom brackets and you have to watch the clearance between the caliper and rim.

If I get the dual pistons off a vr4 it should boult directly up to my gsx correct??
Having never done it on a GGSX I can only say I expect that to be the case just like it is on the 1G DSMs that didn't come with the dual piston from brakes.

And like the 1G DSMs the calipers and brackets can be sourced from several cars. Hit up the VFAQ Big Brake for some of the sources. The primary thing to watch for is getting the calipers that match your brake line fittings.

crazy_quick, please practice using the search button.

Isn't the dual piston caliper the stock GVR4 front brake?
So you just want some stock 4 lug GVR4 rotors, pads, and calipers to bolt on your GGSX.

Correct. Just get some Hawk pads with the dual piston setup and buy some stock GVR4 rotors. For the record :gvr4,3000gt sl,92.5 and up awd dsm, and some diamantes all have the same 2 piston caliper setup. The rotor varies from 4 lug to five lug. 3000 gt VR4 calipers will not work without modifyng, but it has been done. I got my dual piston upgrade from a 92 diamante for 15 bucks on a 50 % off day. I spent 50 bucks on hawk pads and 100 bucks on some rotors. Car feels way better now. I feel safer and more cofident to brake then with the dinky single piston setup wich was only good for 1 good stop. I compared the caliper with the one on my gvr4 and they are the same, the braket number is even the same, and the fitting was the same. I think the 3si and 2g brakes use different fitings, but I'm not sure on that one. I feel this would be a good budget track setup If I switch to racing brake fluid and some SS brake lines. Don't forget you will need at least 15 inch rims to clear these calipers, but I think the ggsx already comes with 15"ers right? I also always thought the ggsx came with the dual piston caliper setup from stock, but I guess I was wrong. Oh well... good luck with it.

I wish it were the case that they came with dual pistons stock, the only reason why I'm going this route is b/c the local j/y got a vr4 in it barely touched(i'm not saying where b/c it's my gold mine....mine all mine). I got all of the leather seats out of it(flawless leather except the driver seat is a worn down in a spot and couple of stichings come loose, no biggy), and also i swiped the vr4 tail lights from that donor as well. Speaking of, will the vr4 tail lights wire up to the ggsx wiring with no problem, are they the same? Now all i need to go back for is the side skirts and the dual pistons and the door panels and i'm done with that car at the j/y. Btw, not to get off track, but has anyone ever seen or heard of a ggsx put through the rigorous treatment that i'm giving it. B/c if not I'd like to know if i'm the first or not, and if someone has, I would like to get aquainted b/c of the knowledge they could offer me b/c this is a long journey and truly i'm taking the road less traveled as it would be said!!!!
