Well i finally got my lazy ass to order some stainless steel brake lines that i might as well order new pads. My current setup consists of the AWD big brake with axis metal master pads and Brembo slotted rotors.

Ive seen searching and reading all day and it seems that the Porterfield RE-S pads are the way to go. I found out that there's also the Axxis ceramic pads as well. My question is simple i rarely autocross and go to the track but i do a lot of spirited driving in the street with highway speed runs. Which pad should i go for.

I want to shy away from getting new Axxis pads (semi-metallic) because they give me a lot of brake dust and its annoying especially when you have white rims:( I also plan on replacing my original rear brake pads with some Axxis metal masters. Am pretty much sold on the Portefields but if the Axxis ceramics are good as well or any other pad you guys can consider i'll get them.

Ps: Any other sites besides RRE and TCE that sell the Porterfield pads. I've been searching but haven't found any sites.

Looks like you have the Porterfield number a little mixed up, Im assuming your looking at the R4-S & not the R4-E? They seem to be an excellent choice for the spirited daily driver and some track time. Like TSIMonsterR said the Hawk HPS pads seem to be a very popular choice as well. They seem to perform better then the axxis pads and are just slightly more expensive. If you don't want to spend alot I would go with the HPS but if you want to splerg abit, go with the R4-S.

If your biggest issue is brake dust you aren't going to be happy with either the Hawk or Porterfield pads. The R4-S pads make a rusty brown dust. I don't know what color the HPS dust is but I'm sure they generate their share of it.

I don't really care how much dust there is as long as the brakes make the seatbelts a requirement to keep the front passengers from bouncing off the windshield. :)

I have the hawk hps pads, and i get very little brake dust. I love my hawk hps, esp if i need to brake hard there is no braking noise.. does not give too much attention esp cops in my area...

Yeah I figured it would come down to those pads. Am just tired of cleaning the rims and the next day already have visible dust from the pads. I'll hold off on the porterfields for now and try out the Hawks and see how they are like. The reason am doing all this is because the best course for doing autox is coming up in 2 weeks and i want to be ready. So we'll see how it goes. By the way what do you guys think about ceramic pads? Good or Bad? and are they better than semi-metallics?

As far as dust goes its really a trade off. If you want a pad that will stop well its going to dust more then a "stock style" pad which don't usually dust that much but don't have the stopping power your looking for.

You can always just paint your wheels black, if the dust is such an issue. Then you can run R4-S pads, which are great, and not worry about it.
