Ok I tried taking off my front brake lines to sell them, and I used a 10mm wrench to try and remove the hardline were it connects to the soft lines. It fit snugly over the nut but when I twist it did move at all, and the wrench would just slip, is there something I am doing wrong?

thanks I looked at work (I work at a hardware store) and the smallest one is a 12mm, so I need to find one

Take a box-end wrench and cut a slot in it. Should work.

No it won't, it will flex badly - if an open-end wrench won't free it neither will this solution. That's why flare wrenches have so much extra meat on them compared to a box wrench - to resist the flexing.

Charles is correct. Use the right tool for the job, but beware even the flare wrenches can flex if you buy the HF cheapies! :coy: Here's an old trick if you're stuck: put the flare wrench on the nut, take a small vice grip and clamp it around the wrench. This helps prevent wrench-flex for breaking the nut free.

As always, it's helpful to soak the connection in PB blaster well before turning any wrenches.
