99 eclipse gs. Car is owned by a friend of mine.

All lights work except the brake lights.

So far ive checked:
Fuse in engine bay for brake lights
Stop light switch
Hazard switch and hazard box thing in center console
Bulbs
All grounds are good.

If i depress the brake pedal, i have power going in and out of the switch. I dont have power at the tail lights or the hazard box in the center console. The fuse for the brake lights under the hood was blown and i replaced it with no luck. This car is a wiring nightmare as she has had numerous people wire stereos and amps, etc. can i somehow make a bypass wire to power all the brake lights? If so, how?

I would keep tracing the wires, also check all the bulbs just in case if all else fails, run new wire front to back.

Since the wire diagrams are for shit, where do the LR, RR and 3rd brake light connect?

They all connect the same, as well as brake light. When you hit the brake all lights come on. Parking light and turn signal is both different circuits.

I had a similar problem with mine, only the brakes lights worked fine without headlights on. When the headlights were on, I had brake lights, so when I hit the brake lights, nothing changed! I traced EVERY related wire in the system and couldn't find anything. I just ran all new wires (even seperated the outer lights for turn signal only, and center 4 as tail/brake lights. :) )It's not all that hard to do, just takes some time.

I'm a little late with a reply since u got already got it fixed.good job but the way.. Was just going to say if the fuse is blowing u have a shorted power wire to ground.. Could test continuity between the switches..
