I was trying to connect my boost gauge to the dimmer switch but I decieded to try the cigarett lighter. I didnt splice any wires into the dimmer all I did was take off the lower panel under neigth it. Then I looked at the cigarett lighter and the person before me did a real hack job on the harness. So far I have no boost gauge and my cluster now has no lighting to it. My tails work. My blinkers work and my head lights work and so does the hazzards. The fuses arent blown and im not sure whats wrong.
Any ideas?

i was gonna say the 15A "TAIL" fuse under the hood if that one blown, no lights for gauges, HVAC,... but if you said that fuse is intact... than its juts the hacked up wiring inside

I managed to fry my rheostat while trying to figure out LED wiring on my old RS... lost all dash lighting, and maybe even interior accent lights too... I don't remember... Just a thought if it turns out the fuse is good or replacing it doesn't fix the problem...

i have this exact same problem right now..
ive spent a few hours today reading wiring diagrams. the hazards and the indicator on the a/c works. when i start the car the headlights are on and tails.. HI beams are fine..

i used a test light for the cigarette lighter and theres no power.
i pulled the plug from the rheostat, used the test on all of em.. no power..

im stumped right now.

I'm having the same issue. I've been without dash lights for a few months now. Even if the tail lights, headlights, hi beam indicator, turn signals, ect still work fine would it still be a blown tail fuse or is my dimmer switch toast? This started when I installed my new head unit and two wires shorted out. I checked all the other fuses and they were fine, I may have overlooked the tail fuse though.

i know this is an old thread but I'm having the same prob. I was wiring up my radio and smoke started coming from under the dash so I'm pretty sure i fried something but I don't know what it could have been. I originally wired the illumination and dimmer wires together then undid them. could that have caused my dash lights to go out? and if it did what would be the problem, could it be the dimmer switch. my head lights, tail lights, door lights, and dome lights work just my dash that are out.

check the fuses, under the dash bottom left corner and under the hood.. if you had the proper fuse it should have burnt before anything else.. my problem turned out to be my dimmer switch, which i was able to jump the pins into making the lights stay on at the brightest setting.

Can some help me having the same issue replacement dimmer switch burnt up and started smoking. Since then haven't tried new switch bulbs seem to be fine. I get power at the black and yellow wire. Also a green wire, but the black ground wire seems a little weak. I've traced the black ground wire from the connector of the dim switch into a plug next to the under the dash fuse box. Not sure on what to do next.

Im having the same trouble with my car. Everything is working but my dash lights wont work although my turning signals, hi beam indicator all work. How did you go about fixing yours?

I resolved my issue my radio wiring was jacked up by PO. Check fuses and swap out dimmer switch with known good one. If that doesn't work. Go ahead and take it to a shop with electrical experience it shouldn't kill you in price
