bought too big of cams, need opinions for new ones!!!

i just installed a set of racing cams(276/274 with 0.415,0.39 lift) and the thing would bog out if you go below 2500 rpm....... the problem with them was that there was NOOOO torque at all.... what is the best set of cams that will attain the same amount of torue of stock cams(very close at least) while providing a noticable amount of topend power.... please let me know what you guys have experienced with the 272's for loss of torque......PS. i am running a 2.3 stroker, thanks

i know that they are going to and i think that they are the fp3's.... these are bigger than the 272's and i would be leaning away from these because if the lack of torque..... Please let me know how your 272's are doing for you, since i have a chance to get that profile for cheap, thanks alot

Thats strange that the car actually bogs down. I have the FP1xs and i kind of think they are too small for my 2.0 and evo 3 set up i wish i would have gone with the 2s or 2xs. REAL strong mid range power though. Are your sure you dont have another problem?

I've ran HKS 272/272 cams in my 2.3 since '03 and I've been very happy with the results.
This is the only cam I've ever had in there so I'm unable to make any comparison but they seem to work pretty damn good.

I use the DKS Cams that are a copy of HKS 264/272 cams and they work fantastic! And a good price!

Then you have a problem. 272s/fp2s/fp3s do not bog that bad below 2500rpms even on a 2.0, from my personal experience with all three.

Retard the exhaust cam 3 degrees, and basically you will turn 272s into the stroker-designed fp3s (without the MINOR increase in ramp rate). This alters overlap which can be tuned to piston speed/air velocity. If you still have a terribly sluggish feeling then there is definately something else wrong. . . I've had no experience w/ "276/274" cams. . . But your profile says you have 272s, so I assume that is a typo.

P.S. Stroker or not, you still have a four cylinder. You're not going to ever get that 5.0L rustang off idle feeling.

There aren't any cams that'll make up for poor tuning. Work on that and the car will run fine.
