Metal in the oil is literally the #1 killer of turbos, and is what most of the ones I rebuild suffer from. On a Mitsu turbo the small hole in the thrust plate which supplies the cold-side with oil will almost always get plugged with metal from a worn engine, and that spells disaster for the turbo.Damn. I wonder how much time they spent with the antilag on at one time to get it that hot. I used the 2step/antilag with my MS and the Hx40. I never have to stay on it for more than 5-6 seconds at a time to build 15+lbs even.
The turbine wheel looks spotless, even though I lost the bearings in the turbo from metal in the oil.
I think the owner of the turbos above would AntiLag it for long periods at redlights just to shoot some flames out the exhaust but wouldn't man up to it when I confronted them. No big deal, it's their money that gets spent on new parts- not mine!
