Bottom End Build

Hey i was just wondering. If i rebuild my bottom end with JE Pistons, Eagle Rods, and Rod/ Main Bearings and a stock crank will it be safe to leave the head stock and be able to turbo it? I wanna run around 5-7 psi since its a daily driver. I was thinking of rebuilding the bottom and top end on my spare engine but dew to shortage of money I was thinking just maybe a bottom end rebuild and turbo kit.

You do not need to have a worked head to turbo your car. In my opinion, You don't neven need a built bottom end unless you are planning on making a good amount of power and run a good amount of boost. If you do build the shortblock though, You might aswell get arp headstuds and a metal headgasket. But to answer your question, you do not need to do anything to the actual head. It will be fine.

I believe 5-7psi is attainable on the N/T assembly. It's not the rods that can't handle it but the pistons themselves have high ring lands and can't take the extra pressure. Once you build the bottom end though you'll be able to run a lot more than 7 psi. The head has nothing to do with going turbo. It would be a good time to put new valve seals in though.

The compression ratio on the stock motor is more than the turbo engine so when you start throwing the boost the compression ratio rises causing issues you maybe ok with small psi boost but wont be worth the money do it right you wont regret it.
