Ok so I have a 97 GST. I had stock T25 turbo hitting 12psi on a boost leak. I couldn't go any higher then 4,000 RPMs for some reason, bov sounded loud and great. So after a while I just put in a brand new big 16g turbo. Everything is stock besides the bov, spark plug wires, and intercooler 2 1/2 hard pipe. Ok so when I swapped this turbo in, I put a megan racing front mount intercooler and put a hks bov on it. When I turn on my car when I finished installing everything I reved my car and couldn't here the bov at all. So I thought it was the front mount cause it had boost leak. So I took it off nd tried the hks bov again nd still nothing. So I took off the bov and put on the one I had before. It sounded totally different. When I turn on my car nd go to the engine bay all I can hear is air coming out from the inercooler pipe to the intake manifold. Reason I knew I was boosting 12psi on the T25 was because I had a megan racing electrical boost gauge. I reinstalled it after I swapped the 16g and it shows I'm boosting 2psi. Dnt know what to do anymore, dnt know why my car is all of a sudden failing on me.

I'd say check to see that the wastegate is functioning properly

And stop worrying about the bov being loud

Err.. Big 16g.. stock fuel system? And you have a boost leak near the TB? Your post is slightly unclear but let me explain a little bit.

If you have a boost leak you are losing metered air (meaning it has passed through your MAF) and your car is adding fuel thinking the air is there, when in reality it is not. More fuel than air causes you to be rich, and running rich robs power. If you have a substantial enough boost leak you are definitely going to not be able to boost. It is nearly a miracle you are hitting 2 lbs.

Fix your boost leak and then fill us in. ;)

Do you have anything like a GM MAF/translator/ECMlink V3 or a speed density set up? If not stop running a blow off valve. Also at idle your blow off valve shouldn't make much noise as you shouldn't have any load to build boost.

I'd check for boost leaks and make sure your waste gate is properly working as well. Although it does sound like you have a boost leak more than anything else.

I'd also check your blow off valve to make sure it isn't just stock open, sometimes they fail it isn't too terribly often they do but they do in fact fail from time to time or maybe you just got a bad one.

Oh, and I couldn't resist. Loud blow off valves remind me of this song all the time.

Do a proper boost leak test to at least 20psi (something higher than what you are running) and spray everything that sees positive or negative air pressure with soapy water. Bubbles indicate a leak which need fixed. On a good sealing motor, you should be able to hold that pressure for at least a minute.

Anytime you mess with the intake system, you should do a boost leak test to ensure that everything is fully sealed after it's installed.

As others have mentioned, don't worry about the BOV sound as long as it works. I hope you have it recirculated as well assuming you are on the stock MAF.

Note that the BOV should be closed (not leaking, not open) at idle.

Also, an exhaust leak pre turbine will cause no boost issues as well.

did you just buy this car? i would check for boost leaks and make sure the waste gate flapper arm is still attached to the waste gate. is the car driving normal? check the maf plug as well, you ever know.
