alright guys, I have a 2g tsi fwd and I have some mods(nothing crazy)(check profile) and I recently put my boost gauge in and it reads only to 10-11psi when im out driving and thats all I can get. I've turned my boost up and it still reads the same, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. ;)

ok, is one better than the other to use for the pressure source or does it really not matter? Wha should I use to cap the compressor housing with if I use the bov line? plus I cant just leave the compressor nipple open right? Thank again oldman you have been a big help;)

Not really because the boost gauge, pressure off the manifold, is what you'll be tuning the mbc with anyway. I do however recommend using the compressor housing because 1) shorter route 2) it can help prevent overboosting the turbo in the case of boost leaks. Speaking of the boost leaks, I susgest performing a test anyway, you'll be surprised at the results.

Wha should I use to cap the compressor housing with if I use the bov line?
Auto parts store => nipple/vacuum caps.

plus I cant just leave the compressor nipple open right?
:tease: You dumbass...that would be a huge boost leak, have you ever try to pressurize a baloon with a hole that size?

Thank again oldman you have been a big help;)
You're welcome.

thanks guys

I got confused with the different mbc's I had, I also had different directions and i got confused. Ill use the compressor housing and see what it does. I planned on doing a boost leak test tomorrow :thumb: Is it possible that the way my mbc is hooked up, this could be my problem?

Assuming what you have stated are true, yes that is exactly what your problem is.

The way it's hooked up right now, you're basically bypassing the mbc by connecting the pressure source (compressor housing) directly to the actuator through the Y, causing the flapper to open at the spring tension in the actuator, roughly 10-12psi.

good i hope it is my problem. Ill fix it first thing in the mourning. But why did it start doing it all the sudden, if I might ask?

You Da man, oldman :rocks:

Sounds to me like the problem was always there, you simply didn't find out until you installed the boost gauge.

aaaahhhhhhh, that wasnt the problem!!!! I just hooked up my mbc the correct way and now not only does it still not give power, when put it into neutral after shifting at a high rpm is stalls. Its almost like my clutch is slipping but i just had a new clutch put in less than 3k ago with the rebuild. Any other suggestions oldman

Did you cap off the original pressure source from the BOV? Let's get this straight, the compressor housing nipple is connected to the mbc nipple in-line but opposite to the adjustment knob and the bottom nipple on the mbc is connected to the actuator, right?

that wasnt the problem!!!!
Trust me, unless you didn't describe it correctly, it was at least part of the problem. You most likely have multiple problems overlapping each other.

yes i actually just ran a new piece of hose from my bov to the intake mani. And the mbc I have hooked up right. Opposite the adjustable screw is going to the pressure source and the other line to the wastegate. Now the idle is really low and it dies when driving and I put it into neutral to coast to a stop.

ok now i actually have a new piece of hose running from the bov to the intake mani so i didnt have to cap anything. Then I put the opposite side of adjustable screw on mbc to the pressure source and the one on the side to the wastegate. And now my idle is really low and it stalls when i put it into neutral to roll to a stop.

1. Test run again and provide detail description of the boost characteristics. Was it a brand new JoeP or used?

2. Perform another all out boost test run by removing the hose between the mbc and actuator, cap off the mbc side.

3. Change the pressure source back to the bov line and test run, don't forget to cap off the compressor. If conditions change after simply changing the pressure, you have some major boost leaks, perform that long over due pressure test.

well I think I had a bigger problem than my boost. I was on my way to work this morning and i was going uphill and my motor kinda did a little hestitation and then I pushed the gas in and it didnt do a thing. I downshifted, still nothing just kept slowing down, and I heard a really loud ticking/clanking so I pulled over and my car stalled. Then I saw smoke coming from under the hood. I popped the hood and smoke came from my motor. The clanking noise seemed to come from behind the motor by the firewall. I think my motor is done for it, even tho I just paid $1000 to have it rebuilt. Now any ideas????
