so I just finished my 16g swap. I went for a test drive and I didn't have my bov hooked up to my maf intake. both where open. not closed. and It couldn't shift (automatic). any idea? I might change my tranny fluid just to be positive. but you could hear the boost was a problem. lmk

You need to recirculate that bov asap. The hole in the intake pipe is now sucking in unmetered air causing it to run like crap. Hook it back up and it should run a lot better and fix your issue.

I don't see how a boost leak would stop his transmission from not shifting?

Seems strange was it shifting fine before you vented the bov? Also I would keep it hooked up and recirculated unless you are running a blow through setup your a/f ratio are going to be way off.[DOUBLEPOST=1410984836][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh you can probably read this thread and it may answer your problem.

You probably knocked something loose on the transmission and it is in limp mode, it should shift just fine.

Pull tcu codes use analog multimeter set to read 12v and put ground (black) to pin 4 and power (red) to pin 6 of the obd2 connector watch the neddle it will give you the trouble code based upon how it swings it will be rapid for single digit and sweep and hold briefly for the number 10

So if say for instance it does sweep hold 3 times and 6 quick times your code will be 36

Now if you dont have any codes it will just bounce all over the place i just did this over the weekend

I know it's an automatic pyramid, But you still have a first and second gear you can put the shifter into. Low = 1st.

I had a clutch pack going out in my first eclipse, and starting from 1st putting it into second allowed me to shift gears, where drive would not. If you can start the car in gear, there is linked issues.

If it is truly in limp mode than that doesn't work, it will just be in 3rd gear regardless.

Yes I can shift from Drive to "2" and "L"

I mean while your trying to drive, if you start out in first, if it won't automatically go into second, move the shifter into second, does the transmission then shift?

Could I do this with a digital multimeter?

I had a clogged cat in my 350 camaro, hit a speed bump it crushed it, I had no power, felt like a 1 cyl engine, any amount of gas other then light gas made it choke out and die. It still shifted gears just fine. Don't think it's a cat :)

Wow some weird suggestions here pull the trouble codes as others have said most likely you ripe a wire or something came loose. As for your release valve. You NEED to pipe it back to intake pipe you can cause a lot of issues with that un metered air= very bad as dsmspick had stated above

If you got a clogged cat then then exhaust gasses have no where to go. Only so much will be able to come out restricting the rest.

If the cat is clogged that bad, the car won't even run. If the engine will start and the car will go in gear and run than the transmission will shift, the 2 are totally non related. Hell, you can give the engine very minimal throttle, and be in 3rd gear by 30mph.
