I'm new to dsm and i just bought a tsi awd. right now it is boosting between 5-10 lbs. most of the time it will boost 5 and then slowly build up to ten but that is only when the pedal is nearly to the floor. the boost gauge sits at 20 vac when idling. checked for boost leaks and there doesnt appear to be any. Recently I bought a hks knockff bov from ebay. it is recirculating. I was wondering if maybe this would be the reason it boosting like that. I just dont think I should have to put the pedal to the floor to reach full boost. plus, i believe that I should be pushing more than ten lbs. i have fully exhaust and intake. please help me out if you have any ideas. thanks

I also tried hooking up a boost controller that i got off ebay, I ran it off of the turbo and wastegate. the car would push 20 lbs even when the controller was turned down all of the way. i knew this couldnt be right so i assumed that the controller was bad. I took the b/c off and ran it back to the ecu. just thought i would throw that in there.

What do you mean there doesnt "appear" to be any boost leaks. I know its a daunting task but a boost leak tester and a spray bottle is the biggest bang for your buck a new dsm owner can get. BY FAR!

Turbo system isnt all that complicated and lack of boost (on an aftermarket boost gauge, stock is crap) majority of the time, ends up being a boost leak somewhere.

Stock, 10 lbs isnt bad. Just b/c you have an intake or exhaust doesnt boost your pressure.

Are you sure your mbc wasnt turned all the way up?

Try running your boost source (post turbo) to your wastegate. That will give you your true stock boost.

Wow dude u got something wrong/ as far as I'm concered. 10-14 psi is the stock boost that the ecu runs. U shouldn't try to push more boost then that, without injectors and several other fuel upgrades. The boost controller idk about I've never hooked one up, but u need several upgrades before u try to push 15+. Wouldn't want u to cause damage.
DSM!

what I meant by there doesnt "appear" to be any boost leaks is because originally there was a huge vac leak and boost leaking from the injector seals. me and some friends fixed those boost leaks and then boost leak tested it again and theere was no leak that I could hear.

I guess I will try boost leak testing again. and I am sure that the boost controller wasnt turned up all the way. I also hooked it up to my friends civic and even with the controller turned up all the way it wasnt pushing more than 8 lbs which is what he usually pushes. What do you mean by running my boost source before the trbo?
