Boost Issue. Please help

Sometimes when I step on it the engine will rev like normal and accelerate like normal utilizing the extra power from the turbo. the other half of the time the engine revs like normal and I hear and see the boost but I cannot feel the extra power I am supposed to have from the turbo.

Boost leak or something completely different? I would think that a boost leak would be leaking 100% of the time and I wouldn't ever be getting the power I need.
I have never cleaned or checked my SMIC either... I must find the cause of this problem.

Start with the easiest first, boost leak test, as you mentioned.

Boost leak, i found lots on mine some were things i forgot.

Sounds like your timing is getting pulled at WOT, i would suspect your pushing too much boost and or not enough fuel.

As far as a boost leak is concerned there would be other symptoms, low HG on idle for example, if you have an EBC with a digital readout for boost/vaccume you should be between 17 and 20HG at 700-900 rpm. (factory cam idle)
