Boost Gauge with Vacuum or not?

The question below is a bit deeper than you would think. I have 2 Autometer Pro Comp Ultra Lite Boost Gauges. Both are 52mm. One without vacuum readings is my 1g DSM. The one with vacuum readings is in my GVR4.

I'd like to swap them but wasn't sure if it would make sense. My 1g is going to be my daily/fuel economy project. The pod on my 1g sits perfect so that I can see whether or not I am in vacuum for best fuel economy. Unfortunately the existing gauge only shows boost.

My GVR4 will not be a daily driver by any means. The only time I will drive it is at the drag strip or during bad weather.

I know that the vacuum gauge is a wonderful tool for telling me whether or not the engine is in good health.

The question is, would you run a strip only car without a vacuum gauge? Could I not do BLT tests from time to time instead?

This question is both tactical and economical. I'd love to swap the 2 and be done with it but wonder how useful vacuum readings are for strip only car.

It makes sense to me to just go ahead and switch them. I see more benefits with running the vacuum gauge in your economy project and running the boost only gauge in your track car. With a track only car I don't see why just boost wouldn't work just fine.

I run SD, so already logging vacuum. I only run a 0-60psi boost gauge, no vacuum.

Thanks all! I figured I'd get a post along the lines of...if I am doing this stuff I shouldn't be able to afford these cars....but using my head allows me to diversify my portfolio and just plain old take my time.

Will a BLT from time to time be able to catch vacuum leaks? Lucky/Smart dog on SD!
