boost creep/ ebay wastegate

hi, i have an ebay big 16g. on the wastegate flapper arm there is nut that looks like it controls the arm length of the wastegate, before i start doing stuff i thought i should ask first..

im experiencing boost creep in 3rd gear only, it slowly goes from 12psi and up to 16 then i let off gas pedal.

i have an ebay 02 dump and 3 inch exhaust

Your full exhaust is causing the creep. On ebay turbos they give you an upgraded flapper size but the wastegate hole is tiny as shit. You need to have that ported out to help bypass some of the exhaust gases. You can port the wastegate hole or go external wastegate.

i was thinking probably the flapper isn't opening far enough

If it did not open all the way it would spike. I don't think it would creep given how small the hole is.

The wastegates are not designed to open all the way, they only open a small amount. The wastegate hole needs to be enlarged for better exhaust gas bypassing.

the ebay flapper arm looks adjustable i see a nut on it, to extend it would i need to tighten the nut or loosen it?

thats just a lock nut, you would loosing that and then the part that connects to the flapper you would extend.

You can adjust the flapper arm all you want, it's not going to overcome this dime-sized wastegate hole:

What you need to do is remove the turbo and do a little port work, until you end up with this:

...and your creep problems will magically disappear. Imagine how badly you'd be creeping if you didn't have the atmospheric o2 dump.


eBay....great for cooking utensils, bad for turbochargers.
