boost creep?

when i am driving i noticed that my boost levels very. sometimes i will hit 18psi other times i will hit 15psi but last nite on the way home i hit 25psi. my boost is set at 10psi what could be causing this? what can i do to fix it?

I see that you have a ported exhaust manifold and o2housing, as well as a bigger downpipe and turbo. Sounds like you need to port your wastegate or turbo as well, that should lessen the amount of boost creep you will be getting, but I think the best thing you could do would be to upgrade or port your wastegate.

Running a ported manifold, O2 housing, and turbo with a 3in exhaust and testpipe on the infamous boostcreep master the E16G is probably whats causing it. Seeing as you said it went to 25psi at night makes be think this even more. The cold dense night air really makes boost creep rear its ugly head. Did you do all the porting or did you buy it this way? Vendors focus on flow when they port their turbos, not hoping to eliminate boostcreep issues. They typically do not get the wastegate step area and blast zone sufficiently. The below links should show you what needs to be done.

What kind of boost control are you running? 15psi over your set 10psi seem like its possible boost creep. But hitting 25 seems high, like maybe a faulty boost controller or a sticking WG actuator.

I am having this exact same issue with my 95 tsi awd after I installed my ported 16g/tube type header/o2 housing and I also have a 3'' dp and 3'' dp back.... scares me to floor the car, and I keep blowing my damn licp off

Not to throw this thread off topic or anything, but im just curious what people have experienced with this issue? It sounds really dangerous if hes hitting a crazy amount of PSI.

Yes it is dangerous. Hitting pressures that high can obviously cause a lean condition and burn things up. It is a very common problem with 16Gs, mainly the E16G, but it can occur in all sorts of different setups. Here are a few links for you to read up on.

Vegas, using T-bar clamps instead of hose clamps, will stop your IC pipe blow off problems.

ok after reading that i think i might have boost spike and creep. now what port the wastgate?

You have to look at what was already ported in your turbine housing (inside and outside of the wastegate passage) and O2 housing.

What type of boost controller are you using? I am 99.9% sure you are creeping.
