i have a bone stock 93 awd laser. the thing is i was cleaning up the heat sheilds, so i took them off and noticed that where the w.g flapper goes into the housing, it seamed like it was slid out some. (it looks like there is a bushing that is attached to the flapper itself). so i took the car for a ride and heated up the turbo, the took the fan out and tapped it back into the housing. seemed to be fine. well i took the car for a ride and in 1st and 2nd it pushes almost 20 lbs with no hesitation and pulls extremely hard. in 3rd and 4th it holds a constant 15 lbs. the car is like a jet compared to the 10 that it previously held, but i know something is not right. everything on the car is hooked up and all that has ever been done to this car is i put a boost guage.
im wondering that if i was knocking , wouldnt it pull timing and id feel it? cause i dont. its still got the factory boost controller.also, shouldnt it hit fuel cut at these pressures?

) enough to know that it's pulling timing. The only real way to tell is with a logger. YOu may be fine, or you may be pulling timing, but until you've got a logger you'll never really know for sure what's going on. And that's a main reason a lot of people end up popping HG's and such is from turning the booost up, romping on the new found power and then Ka-BOOM coolant out the exhaust, warped head and several hundred dollars later they learn to get a logger. not sure what's still out there for th 1g, I heard rumors that the TMO logger was discontinued, that would be really sad, but there's enough 1g ECU flashing and logging programs out there that you should be able to get something really nice for 125 bucks or less that can do a lot of things for you like log, reset DTC's, make tuning changes..etc.etc...
