The bolts that hold the drivers side axle have stripped out, and one has got stuck in the block. I tap and died the one on the right but the bolt thats is closest to the driver side wheel is stuck in the block. The perivous owner welded around the bolt and now theres weld spatter around the bolt. The bolt sticks out about a 1/4 of an inch with the end of the bolt busted off. My question how do i get rid of the spatter a 90deg angle grinder of should i use a torch? An once i get the spatter out of the way how do i get the bolt out just throw vice grips on it and hope it comes out of heat the bolt first the vice grip. Option are welcome and considered.

If it were me, I suppose I would try to get the bolt out first. Using a grinder or even something smaller like a dremel to get a bit more precision might be a good idea. Its tough to say without seeing it but it would also depend on how much welding was done. Worse comes to worse and you cant get the bolt out you could always just cut it off and weld a stud up there.

Ive had these bolts break several times so I know what you're dealing with. Right angle Milwaukee drill from sears became my best friend.

You may have to grind/cut the bolt head off. After removing the axle you can work on the rest of it. If you can get a welder in there, take an open lug nut from an eclipse and weld to the bolt and then try to turn it out. Good luck, there is not a lot of room for you.

hey bro arent you on carolina dsm, anyway, i took my exhaust off and have lots of room just waiting on my friend to lend me his 90degree grinder. i guess the 35r was just :ohdamn:to much for the bolts to handle.

I had the same problem. I ended up TIG welding the shaft bracket to the AC bracket neatly to avoid pulling the engine to drill the bolt out. I then used the AC bracket bolts to hold everything in place instead. So far it has been working great on my 37R car ;)

90* drill helps. I had to do that to get a broken bolt out.

i tried, but i really can get up in there even with the down pipe off. But i need to rebuild my motor my rings are going bad, un even compression numbers, i think 130, 115, 115, 120. The car still pulls very good, but i kinda want more oil pressure since i'm running a 35r. Plus i need to re route my intercooler piping, change my bov, retune with a e85 fuel setup.
