Most of the cages that are out there like on dsmparts for the 2g's seem to be discontinued??? Does anyone know where you can get a basic bolt in 2g roll cage or a basic weld in 2g kit like 6 or 8 point good enough for sub 11.5 sec passes nothing special I will only be drag racing but my b-day is coming up and if I can find a good cage for a reasonable price that is def what I want to look into. Another thing is how much do most shops charge to weld a cage to the car?

This is the best place to go Welcome!:thumb:

They have the kinda cages I want but it looks like it's just for muscle car guys ???

Edit: I found a listing for a 95 eagle talon that should work for all the 2g's correct cause they all are just about the same?? Part number 11-2044

Yes the 95 talon cage works for all 2G. This is the only place that we buy our cages for any car unless they arnt availible.

Can you elaborate on your experiences, please? I'm interested in hearing feedback of this rollbar. If you type in 'talon' in the search bar it pulls up an 8 pt roll bar for 400 bucks. Is it 'bolt in' or is it the tube kit and you have to weld it yourself?

90% of rollbar/rollcage kits, bolt or weld in fit like junk, do it properly and take it to a chassis shop.

That's a pretty rash statement any info to back this up? How do you know this company does test fit every cage as it says it takes a couple weeks to chip out meaning they probably make them not just have them sitting around?

There is always going to be trimming necessary to make these cages fit well. I recommend these cages to someone that is, or has an experienced welder on hand. The last time I checked, it was $90 shipped to the Baltimore area. These cages are a great deal for anyone that is willing to do the extra work. Otherwise, I would take this gentlemens advise, and have a chassis shop do it.

I'd do some research before putting a roll cage. First look into if the bolt-on is NHRA and IHRA certified for drag strip runs. Another thing if you plan to use the roll cage in you daily car it is not street legal and it's uncomfortable cramping yourself into the car with a bar behind your head.

Why said roll cages aren't legal? I have never heard this:confused:

Did you guys read that thread everyone says it's legal just not safe that's all I read

Edit: Just like the OP in that thread I say roll cage but I am talking about a roll BAR. I only need a setup safe to go 9.99 to 11.5 which is a roll bar not cage.

Youll be fine. Just make sure you get some padding for the parts of the cage that may come in contact with your body.

I'm going to order my 2G 10pt cage very soon. I'll post some pics of the installation process. I may even start another thread.

You should hurry up they're having a sale till feb 29th 30 bucks off the online pricing.

oops, I posted this on a a different thread... hahaa

I had a roll cage in two of my cars before. I got pulled over once for it, because the officer said it was an obstruction of vision, but I did not get the ticket. But he did give me a ticket for the safety harness for some reason. I ended up bolting in the factory seat belt, bolted the buckle back in, got the ticket signed off, no problem. I really do think it's just a matter of where you live, what kind of cage you have done, and how discrete you make it. My last cage was welded along the a pillars between the windshield and the doors, but did not protrude with chamfers and gussets, so they were not that obvious. I had the back windows tinted so it's harder to see from behind or along side of the car, and left the front windows without tint. Never got pulled over...

Maperformance has a cheap roll cage kit, but I don't really know much about it. I have considering getting a kit, but I'm still pretty hesitant for multiple reasons.

Harnesses aren't DOT approved. And DOT doesn't know what to make of them, let alone CHP.
Schroth's are: Welcome to SCHROTH Safety Products, Germany

They also cost three times the price of the other harnesses because of it. But if your car is street driven, then it will be worth the additional cost. I've been using Schroth harnesses in my street car since '02, and have yet to be cited for them.

Remember DSM's can hit the 135MPH 10pt cage requirement well before the 9s, so if looking to go that fast, better to do it once and get the 10pt now than having to retrofit/redo a rollbar.

Also note that the S&W kits are cut-to-fit + weld-in, so unless you have a welder, should factor that cost into your budget as well.

Remember talking to a NJ chassis shop that would do an 8pt steel cage for $1,000, provided I gave them a gutted car.
