Bog at WOT

Okay, I have searched for the problem diagnosis and found a few helpful threads, but heres the story of my car.

I bought it a few months back torn apart. The only thing that was missing was a turbo. Yeah maybe a dumb idea but I talked to a lot of people who new the guy so for some reason I went along with it that it would run. It did, perfectly once I threw in an Evo 3 16G. Anyway, I didn't have a wastegate to start because I wanted an external and I thought Slowboy was sending me one with the turbo, thats what the guy made it sound like on the phone. I drove it for a while carefully, not to overboost, from time to time I had the urge and it overboosted, hence where the name came from on the cardomain.

Once I had the wastegate installed it would run 15 pounds just like I wanted, but it started to bog as I accelerated, not horribly, it still scoots pretty good, but it would just cut out then go again on and off through the rpms. I got a check engine light, had it checked and its an o2 sensor I believe the one after the cat (I don't have one though). Spark plugs and wires brand new before turbo even went in. Can the o2 sensor cause that because once in a while it won't cut through 1st, sometimes 2nd, then will in 3rd. My apologies for long winded post, but I know you guys like to know about the car before you help diagnose.

if you gapped the plugs at .031 you may want to try .026-.018

Aim for .028

Please don't try .018

I'd turn the boost down see if it continues, and also check the timing. I thought 15 was too high for a 16g and stock every thing else.

Well I can't really turn down the boost, my WG is a 1 bar, so right at 15 psi is as low as I can go, which from what I read I thought would be okay, so I'm just nice to it incase its bad. I will double check my spark plug gapping and try to get Evoscan up and going. Also I will do another BLT just for peace of mind. My CEL was for an o2, I believe the rear, I will check that again once evoscan is up. Thanks for the help guys ill see what I can do.

A dead / dying rear O2 will not cause driveability problems. It's only there as an emissions thing to verify functionality of the cat.
