Well the stock 132k mile 7-bolt did well for getting beat on at 362awhp and 7500rpm. Time to do a 2.3 6-bolt! Curious if you guys think my turbo will be ok.....car shut off instantly and it just has bad compression on cylinder one with debris on the piston top visible. Here's what I found trying to diagnose the car ROFL

It's one of those thing I don't think you will get a definite answer until you take it off. I've cracked a piston and my turbo was fine surprising like and the piece of piston was no where to be found LOL

Agreed. You won't know the extent of damage untill you dig and find out. But to be honest if you're going to do a 6 bolt 2.3l swap. And spend that kind of money you're better off investing a little more for a new turbo and accessories. Just my thought.

It's likely it has metal shavings throughout the entire system when you say "car shut off instantly" it was probably preparing to shut off for a while now.. and from what I've seen there's really no such thing as a "clean" engine failure.

A turbo rebuild wouldn't hurt, it bay be a good time to reset. Also if you don't and it ends up spitting chunks back into your freshly built motor, you'll be sorry.

better safe than sorry, best just replace or rebuild while out and apart than have to back track and redo when all back together.
