I was leaving work last night and i noticed oil under my car. and its right up front under the turbo. I checked my dipstick and it was low. I ran to autozone and got oil to put in there and tried driving it home. The car started right up with no smoke issues or overheating. While driving home i noticed a faint whine sound from when i start boosting its usually right around 1-3lbs after that the turbo spool takes over. The faint whine sounds like a supercharger. Is it possible that the turbo is being starved of oil or the turbo itself is going out.

I would check the oil return leaking. If your seals were going you exhaust would most likely be smoking. To check the seals, take a look at your intake pipe, if there's oil in there its your seals.

But my guess is, since its dripping on the ground, it isn't the seals and it is the oil return line instead.

I have a whine in my 14b turbo myself. My seals are shot as well. In any case, if you're turbo is whining, it's time for a rebuild. Regardless, you do not want to leak oil into your Intake, and foul your plugs as well, while losing oil, and clog your cat (Which I did all 3..sadly haha) There is a phrase that goes around called the "Turbo whine of death".

check the seals if u got oil in ## intake pipe your seals are bad and if there is actually drops of oil i would definantly guess that is its the oil return lines and as far as the whine i would check for shaft play might be time for a rebuild.

if u got oil in the intake pipe your seals are bad
Really?

I'd venture to guess there is oil in the intake pipe of literally every DSM on the road which still has the factory PCV system routed through the intake even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with the turbo.

I believe if you smoke after getting out of boost its a bad pcv valve or Excessive crank case pressure. Which could be bad rings.
