Blown HG after 500mi

I just blew my head gasket after 500 miles....I used the topline rebuild kit and was wondering if anybody else had trouble with their head gasket. I didn't even get to turn up the boost! Also, for my new head gasket, any suggestions.

I'm lookin at a new gasket. I can OEM mitsu one shipped here for 110CAD, or I can just get a felpro for 75. I won't be running any more than 16 psi for a long time. Is it really worth the extra 35 bucks and time shipping for the Mitsu one?

I wasn't happy with my compression results, I thought 130 to be too low for such a new engine. I went out and got a different compression tester, and ran low 160 accross the board. Question is...where is this water comming from. I know it could be a few things. Cracked head/block, headgasket, or turbo. with the compression readings that I just gave, and the other symptoms above, which is most likely? or how do I test without pulling the head? Any other suggestions are helpful.

well, I finally decided to pull the head, and found a crack running down the intake side. I was gonna take pictures, my camera sucks and it won't go that tight. Next question is; can the head be welded?

I wouldn't trust an aluminum cylinder head to be welded. A fresh one can be picked up for relatively cheap, so I wouldn't take the chance of welding one. Check local classifieds for one.

Also, I had an 'aftermarket' composite headgasket that failed within about 2000 miles, go OEM for sure.

bought the OEM one, the dealership gave me a deal, only 80 bucks...a felpro was 74 but as for local heads...theres nothin. My brother thinks its a ridge in the casting...i think its a crack. I'm going tomarrow to have it pressure tested.

Results are in and its cracked. Guess I'm in the market for another head.
