Here some pics of some of the things that were taken off the car because of my blown HG. Some super nice ppl from a town close to me spent the weekend helping me with the TSI. There are taking my head and cams and getting them machined. Replacing the lifters and hot tanking them. There doing it all for the old rims i had on the talon. Also included pics of the old to new rim change. Tell me what you all think of what my head and block looked like!

Blown Head gasket between cylinders 1 and 2.

Lol yeah no joke! They also gave me a new set of injectors and the HG and the new lifters for free!!!! I met them from the forums. These guys are my heroes they did 6 hrs of driving in 2 days! Did all the work taking the head off. My talon will have a fresh machined top end. The bottom end looks really good considering how hard i drive this car. It will start and run correctly (hopefully) for the first time in months this weekend. I ran my fingers across the inside of the block in each cylinder and the walls feel smooth as glass, no miss coloring no grooves or scratches. How do you guys think it looks for 105k miles and the crap being beat out of it for the last year.

It looks pretty healthy for having the crap beat out of it.. Did you see the pics of the poor guy that only got 4,000 miles on his rebuild? Nasty stuff, and WOW! There really are some good people out there, huh. 6 hours to do some engine work? Thats awesome. One of the many benefits I love to being an enthusiast, you will always find good help and knowlegable people.

Sorry if i cant spell all that good soemtimes..LOL

Why is cylinder two slightly discolored in comparison to the others?

Probably has something to do with the blown head gasket, and gasses moving from one cylinder to the other. Not sure exactly, but it doesnt look bad at all.

Yeah i bounce this thing off the rev limiter on a daily basis driving it to the limit. I only paid 2k for it its mostly a toy and the neon gets way better mileage. Yeah i cant say enough about how awesome these guys are, wish there were more people like them. While they were in town they noticed a 91 GSX AWD parked at a gas station the owner said it'd been sitting for a while. So they put a note in the window and towed it home yesterday for $1.3k. 91 green unmolested virgin 101k original miles clean title all maintenance receipts and all it needed was a starter and battery. Still has stock air box its so untouched and a very rare checkered interior. That's karma for you!

Well i imagine that spark plug you linked with the broken tip came from cylinder two correct? If so it could be because that cylinder got some coolant in it from the blown headgasket and it cooked all of the oil and grime off of it leaving a slightly singed but clean piston in comparison to the others. of course it could have something to do with running lean on that piston but that would be unlikely

They said after the head is decked and machined the new HG should hold up very well! They said it looks like it has newer bearings and a fresh hone on the block! With the machined head and the bottom end looking so good, i think im soon to invest in a lil more HP!
