I blew my ECU about a week ago. Well I bought one of ebay and got it in today. I took a look at the inside to see if the cap was leaking, at least see if i could tell visually. Well anyway, the inside looks nearly brand new. Which is alot more than I can say for my old ECU. I looked the caps over and they seem and look fine. I was just wondering if I should go ahead and get the caps replaced since it is used or if i should plug her in and go. What would you guys do?

Thanks

Just replace them. What you can't see is that bit of fluid leaking out right under the capacitor that is eating away at the board. It is a $3 dollar investment to make sure your ECU will not give you any more problems.

My ECU looked perfect when I checked it over, but when I removed one of the caps there was fluid sitting there. Looks can be deceiving. Just take care of them before the become a problem.

I second that. I did the same thing buying a used ecu and just installing it and a few months later I was looking for another one. Replace the caps for $5 instead of spending $100-$200 every couple months. :thumb:

replace them and check your isc,... if thats bad it will blow this ecu too, and the isc will have gone bad if the cap over the isc drive or whatever was the one that leaked... and then with a bad isc, that drive will die on the new ecu....i had to replace both my ecu and my isc when i blew my caps...
