Blow-Thru setup, Gas Mileage?

Well, when i bought my car, the guy who previously owned it put on a TiAL BOV, which vents to atmosphere. Im getting a blow-thru setup (3"gm/maft) and i want to know if it will raise my MPG just like a recirc. bov. (it seems logical....in my head)

The MAFT and the recirc kit should not really raise your gas mileage in either case.

howcome i just read on these boards, that when some guy who had a Blitz BOV that vented to ATM, got a recirculating BOV, his gas mileage went up like 100mpt? (dsmspyder99)

I can't answer that. I can say that an increase of 100 miles per tank is going to be around 7-8 mpg increase, which is HUGE.

When I switched to the MAFT in blow through (1g BOV vented to atmosphere) my gas mileage didn't increase noticably, maybe 1 mpg at the most.

anything is better than my 200mpt @ 17psi , or 140mpt @ 21psi

Guys read the post more carefully. He has a Tial BOV, which vents to the atmosphere which we all know causes bad gas mileage. After switching to the MAFT blowthrough which will negate the bad effects of venting, his gas mileage will go back to what it should be. Provided his car is in otherwise good condition.

Thank you for having a brain an actually reading the post. Yes you MPG will go up when you car runs the way it should.

Apparently I didn't have a brain when I read the post?

I'd like you to explain why having your BOV vented to atmosphere makes your car have better gas mileage. It sure as hell isn't because the BOV is pulling airflow at idle and cruise, because that makes the car run LEANER.

When I was venting, I did not see any noticable decrease in mileage.

Again, reading is fundamental.

I said that when he has it recirculated or when he gets a MAFT then the negative affects of venting will go away. One of those affects is bad gas milage. My FWD car is vented right now and it gets pretty bad gas milage. I can understand that yours may not be as bad as others, but as a wiseman, you should know that everyones cars act different. It may not make it any better, but at least it is one thing down and I bet it will improve a great deal.
