Blow off valve installation

Well I was just wondering if this particular BOV will work on the 14b turbo. forge motorsport competition blow off valves from HorsepowerFreaks

And if it will, I have no idea how to install a BOV

Your stock one will be fine. And I hope you know to recirculate. Please search and search again for any questions you have. Pick up a Haynes manual and read through some of the things and get familiar with the car. And get up to date with all maintained before you mod, otherwise you'll have a giant headache in the future.

Looking at your profile it'd be best to go a different route. Everyone will tell you to stick with the 1g stocker.

I run that one and it works great. It's also capable of having the dumped air piped back into the intake. Recirculated if you will...

Well. The stock 1g bov will hold stock boost levels and higher if you crush it. You won't be able to have the louder noise because of the MAS location and what not. I'm not going to get in depth because the topic has been beaten to death. You'll need the MAFT/GM MAF to vent it.

1g stocker has been well proven amongst the community. Just remember that venting will hurt your car's performance. It'll cause your car to run rich at times. Well, if you don't mind that have at it. I've got a recirculated HKS and it's still loud. Ofcourse, nothing compared to when it's vented into the atmosphere.

Another way to make that sound louder is to get hard IC pipes, hard intake pipe, and even a hard recirc pipe if you want to.

...hence the BOV being your first mod. This is completely illogical.

Your car already has the most durable and well-performing stock blow off valve on it, there's no reason to change. The 1G's stock valve was designed for use with your car being in it's relatively stock form...if you swap it for something that is built for race use (intended for vehicles running high boost levels) then the spring will be too stiff to work well at your low boost level. The resulting effect of a blow off valve being too stiff is compressor surge that will murder your turbo.

If you want a louder "whoosh" (because it makes your car sound faster), consider spending that money elsewhere on mods that will allow you to run more boost. With more boost comes more power as well as a more pronounced blow off valve. It's a win-win situation.

Buying a race-style valve and slapping it on your car is a lose-lose situation. You'll dump a ton of money on a valve that will give you NO performance increase, and you'll eventually kill your turbo as a result of the valve being too stiff. But dammit, it'll sound badass!

Thank you Jusmx141 that was helpful. No I am not mad nor was I. I work on engines and this is the first car ive had with a turbo. Just needed allitle explanation, I'm putting a new short block on my car for god sakes! Anyways, yes I understand and I read the "BOV into the atmosphere" thread and now I'm just going to keep my stock BOV

Consider doing some of the free mods such as removing the silencer from your MAS. You'll be surprised the amount of sound you'll get from a hacked 1G MAS with a 3" DeJon intake pipe. You'll also be surprised what 20+psi with a Dodge Garage Modded 1G blow off valve sounds like even when it's recirculated....but that's a long way off at this stage in the game.

You're stocker is the best bet it will hold a decent amount of boost even better crushed and its already recirculated,thus no loss inperformance.
