Okay, i bought the car for 1,000$ expecting just to be a little project till it was time to start putting some mods in.
The car was in a front end accident and appeared to my knowledge to have been fixed and rewired and what not properly.
My Passenger side head light will not light fully, its very very dim compared to the driver side head light. Than when i would turn the parking lights on at night my fuse would blow behind the speedo, the air management system and the running tail lights would all go out. I didnt have much time to look into the problem till the weekend.

I am very very new to cars and im interested in the DSMs by far.
I dont know the symbol that lite up but it was on the right hand side and it was round and orange ( ha i know real nooby) but my car just shut off on me completly. i seen my battery terminals were terrible so i had them replaced. The next day i drove the car it was fine than the day after that it made a strange humming noise than shut off on my while i was in neutral. popped the hood played with the battery terminals again and it started up drove about 40 feet and the gauges and lights on the dash went crazy and it showed my car to be over heating. so i left it sit for about 4 hours and went to work. tryed on my lunch break and it was completely dead. So i had someone follow me up and give me a jump just so i could get it to my house for someone to work on it and show me whats up but as i was driving the car would make that strange humming noise than i would be doing like 40 mph and it would just shut off on me than start back up than shut off kept doing that than it just died completely. After that i pulled over and it just died totally so im being completly puzzled with no idea whats wrong with my car and the oil light comes on along with the humming noise. i removed my keys and had it in the off position and the light was still on and the noise was still going.

After about 2 minutes there was a small little fire inside my firewall aparently the accelerator is now stuck cant press it down. i did notice that the Engine ground was snapped when i looked at it, but could that have cause all that problem with the car or would it be more in depth with wiring ??
Any ideas to what this could be, possibly a cheap fix not to expensive, or if its gonna be a lot, i know its ###### hard to tell just from my text but its worth a try. im either gonna part it out like it is or gonna fix it up and put more money into...

Sorry for the long post but im lost and broke currently. but im looking to get a GS-T or GSX instead of a GS next time around.

Any advice for me to maybe try to my car currently or what to look for ?

Thank you

Wow, that sounds like quite a mess. Initially, it sounded like a simple electrical short to me. I don't know what that humming sound could be, or why there was a fire, however.

If you don't know much about cars, buying a beater that requires TLC probably wasn't the best move. You can download some of the factory service manuals here and try to trace the wiring to find any faults:

Download Useful Files - SymTech Laboratories: Design, consulting, prototyping, and manufacturing - Megasquirt - FCD's - Manifold Spacers

I think it may be more cost effective to sell the car and find another, though.

The good news is that its probably not that expensive to fix. The bad news is that trying to find the apparent ground problem (sounds like you are grounding out a hot wire on the chasis somewhere) and the affected parts (parts that were burnt up because of the ground out), could be daunting.

Unless you are interested in learning the ins and outs of searching, testing, tracing, checking, all your sensors and wires within the vehicle, you may want to go to a different vehicle.

But then again it can be as simple as a single hot wire hitting ground..........

Guy at the garage said if he had to guess it would be the main engine ground which sits right on top of it. Just cause the waybitnlooks in the area but that's not where I seen the fire when I popped the hood. So I'm not sure of that but he does know a bit more than I do. But. Ould that one ground cause all of that
