Big 16g Stock boost?

The same as a stock turbo. The boost level will remain the same unless you are using something to control it, like a manual boost controller, for example. The 16g will flow a little more air at the same boost level giving you more power.

Well idk what the stock pressure is. the BCS is not hooked up, idk what the stock boost is, because the car didn't even run when I got it.

Ok, well the stock wastegate pressure is about 9-10 psi. The boost when hooked up to the BCS is going to be the same as the stock boost, about 11-12 psi.

True, but it's also a little laggier than the stock turbo. Some folks bolt an Evo III 16G on and are disappointed that it actually feels slower than a 14B or T25 at the same stock boost level because the turbine is, indeed, turning at a slower speed.

As you keep going larger with the turbo size, more and more boost is required to keep the compressor efficient. Say you're running a 20G at 20psi and seeing 37 lb/min of airflow then you decide to upgrade to a GT35R. At the same boost level, it may only move close to the same airflow as the 20G....but it will do so at a higher engine RPM and slower turbine speed, making the air charge cooler and more-usable meaning you can run leaner AFR's and more-aggressive timing to extract power from the setup. You may also notice that the 35R doesn't "hit" like the 20G at the same boost level as a result of the slower power delivery.

So my engine is going out to get built soon, I have an eBay 16g can I run it on stock fuel injectors, fuel pump, and boost for break in? Searched but could not find a result.
THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!

Not to rip on you but you are building your engine and adding an E-bay turbo? Do it right man - an engine build cost too much money to put a crappy ebay turbo and risk damaging your freshly built engine. Just save the extra cash and buy a legit one. If you don't have the funds; pick up a used 14b while you save up. I think what separates us DSM'ers from the Honda people is that we don't cross the el cheap-o line as often as they do. :nono:

I definitely wouldn't put a ebay junk turbo on a new engine just to have to drop the oil pan to fish out pieces of the thrust washer in a few hundred miles.

very good point, thanks for that, i didn't know those cheap turbos would fall apart like that(still learning). plus i've read a lot of good things about the 14b's, i take those are good for the break in process? and will the car run okay with 272's and a 14b?

Yeah I've found cheap 14b's on criagslist around my area, I'll just junk mine, cause I've waited to long to have my car running, And do not want a new motor to blow! But back to the my question I want to break the motor in properly, and get the cams installed while it is at the machine shop, will it run right without a tune with 272's and a 14b or do I need link for a tune to run those cams?

You'll need a tune period. Running aftermarket cams requires that you tune the car. Cams aren't very hard to swap out in our cars (dohc) - just put the stocks on until you save up for all the supporting mods (fuel injectors, fuel computer, fuel pump etc. Again, do it once and do it right. :thumb:

What brand of cams?

Old thread, but don't want to start a new one. Anybody know the wastegate spring pressure on a 14b? Is it the same as the 16g?

hey guys . was just wondering...im running a 16g on stock fuel pump and stock injectore with a boost controoler on a 2g 6bolt swap, when I open the b controller it jumps to 14 15 psi , and engine doesn't cut, on the other hand ..when I had the 14b engine use to cut around the same psi, was wondering why? and can I run the 560s injectors on the 2g stock fuel pump with the 16g?
