Have a local guy here stripping his DSM back to stock and is selling his Big 16G with 10k miles on it, little shaft play (if any) for $300. Me still running on a T-25 am wondering if this might be a good deal. Looks like they sell new for ~600. . . . but was looking at the new EVO III Big 16G with it's bigger compressor wheel and lighter housing.

Any thoughts?

is this just the turbo itself? Or will you be getting the piping also? I'd also check for any possible crakcs, and the compressor fins doesn't have irregular bends(even if it only had 10k).

Yeah, just the turbo, no lines I believe (it's coming off of a 1g) I think I'll go check the shaft play tomorrow . . .

Well, the lines you can just use off of you T-25, though you may have to bend the lines slightly. Pending the price of the install kit, you may be pretty damn near the price of the EVO turbo you want-new!

Yeah, believe the EVO is about the same new . . . ~600. But then then I'd need an install kit for it. I've seen a full Evo kit with EVERYTHING for ~1k

True true.....well you know what to look for on the 16G. So if everything is good, go for it. good luck!

Out of curiosity, is there something on the compressor housing that I could look for to make SURE it's a big 16G?

Only way to tell is to take off the housing, and actually measure the wheel. No visual way to do it, sorry.

So measuring the compressor inlet, etc. . none of that would really work?

Nope. Have the physically measure the wheels. which is why i get shady about buying used 16g's from people. unless you can ACTUALLY measure it yourself, someone may try to milk 100 extra bucks out of you by saying its a b16g or e316g.

Thanks for all of the replys- anyone know the compressor wheel sizes off the top of their head?

well this is true for ALMOST ALL cases but the b16g's i've seen all have 7cm housings.

look for the number 7 or 6 on the turbine housing .. if it's got a 6.. most likely it's not a b16g

*edit, check SBR, i think they have the exducer/inducer measurements; but the b16g is somewhere's near 2.1xx" and you have to mic it.. not just by a ruler
