big 16g install

a couple last comments here.

It is definently NOT easier to remove the exhaust manifold(unless your going to have it ported), leave that thing on there, You don't want to break those studs and end up drilling that shit out trust me. I didn't touch my stock manifold.


I am not certain, but on my 16G swap into my 2G I did have a 1G oil return line and the fcukin thing wasnt long enough, save yourself the trouble, grab a round file or dremel and file the bolt holes closer togather, it took me like 10 min.

I'm with him on the oil return line... mine (1g) wasn't long enough like they said it was, and i had about a 1/32" gap ...needless to say i had an oily mess.

yeah i was told that with a 1g bov it could only hold about 22 psi at the most..so i don't think im gonna run it that high, 1 of my other guys has a small 16g in his 1g and he tells me that he runs it at 10psi usually and only takes it to 19 when needed.

I am running a 1g bov on my 2g, and I drive with my small 16g set to 20 psi all the time. I modified the bov to hold boost (I think mine was leaking at about 18 or 19 or so because the boost was a bit more stable after modification). My bov will hold whatever I want it to now. No, I didn't crush it, crushing things just breaks them.

You can either mod your own for cheap or buy one modded from DejonTool. If you're real slick, you can also hook up a switch and soldenoid so that you can switch from "fast release" mode to "boost hold" mode whenever you go to the track, but I didn't bother because my car is basically a track car that I just drive everyday anyway... and I'm not too worried about beating the crap out of my turbo.

SBR's "full" kit is the RRE hacker/tweeker kit......but without the SS feed line. which one sounds like a better deal

Now that I look at it, one's not any better than the other. If you're that much of a nickel pusher to call saving $5 a deal, then whatever. The SBR does come with a SS oil line. The RRE kit does not come with a O2-turbo gasket whereas the SBR kit does. And the SBR kit does not include a 2.5" O2-downpipe gasket whereas the RRE kit does. Everything else about the two is the same.
