Hi,
im trying to figure out what bov to get. i will be running 25psi+ and venting to atmosphere. i dont fully understand wich bov would be best for me, do i need a 'big' and expensive bov or does it not matter? when i look at the bovs in the stores it never says what psi they are rated, how does this work?

also, i have a greddy type s, from the previous owner, could i use that one or isnt it big enough?

Im using the -08 to -11 spring on a .20 6bolt with 272 cams and its perfect. The spring that came with it from the previous owner was not right for my setup and I was getting compressor surge like a mofo. Out of all of the BOV's I've used, Tial and Turbosmart have got to be the best. Only pain is getting the right spring.... They are $25ish shipped each, so do your research before you just buy one.

What does your car read at idle for vacuum?

Tial QR. There is none better. And when you go SD, you don't have to buy another, you can purchase just the valve body to switch it out with the recirculating piece and then sell it easily to someone looking to recirculate their Tial till the go SD, just like you did. Brand new tials are $240 so I wouldn't really call that expensive. Not to mention, you can get them used for about $150. Hks is rice. Sounds like a baby bird that just fell out of its nest.....cute... Lol

Wow it's getting to the point where modding anything on your car is ####ing rice. Im getting sick of hearing it and it's getting old real quick.

It sounds like you are set on the Tial, but I have a 1G BOV dodge modded and crushed and I run 35 psi. I BLT my car to 40psi and it still holds. Crazy you can't get them in Europe! They are $25 in the States and easy to get...

Raceport from turbosmart. Real clean and compact, sound nice, and are great performers. Well priced too. Id recommend them for sure!

Im a fan of the Tial. I have a Q myself. Sounds nasty at high boost, like your going to blow a small child off the sidewalk. The HKS is a proven performer but it seems like everyone in the "JDM" communities run the heck out of them so they are a little over done for my taste but a great valve none the less. They will hold pretty much what ever you throw at them. I also have a dodge garage modded 1g valve. It holds 30psi no problem but I do not run it on my daily, its said that doing that mod makes the valve more sluggish down low and doesnt open fast enough for just a lower boost/cruise driving. I could be wrong on that now but last I read that was the case. Look up bovs on youtube and you can kinda get a feel for what you like as far as sound. Id stay away from synapse and that garbage.

Definatly the tial, it's a 50mm valve. You may find with the type s that you get compressor flutter because the smaller valve doesn't release all the air. If its a knock off type s it might be as small as 34mm. My authentic type rs had a 40mm valve and when I compared it to a knockoff type s, the s valve was a lot smaller.

TiAL all the way, I bet I run more boost than most of the posters here and I can say it held up nicely and worked flawlessly at 40psi of boost.

^^LOL

I would also say TiAl as it has one of the largest valve of any bov, and its not a over sized ugly thing like the HKS. I have a Greddy Type S with a single spring, while it works fine now its a pain having one more thing on your car to tune and tweak.

Can all these people, most running different cams and turbos, PLEASE stop referencing "PSI". It's a bad unit of measure if all other factors are not equal.

CFM, lb/min...something relevant; or just specify the snail in the post.
