I want the best speakers you can get for our car, shoudl i get mb quarts, infinitys, or what, and dont even anyone tell me sony or pioneer or someone lame like that. i Want both front and back replaced with top of the line. Thanks

First off, what kind of amp are you going to be running. That is a major point when buying speakers. Also, I have had good experiences with JL and Rockford. Goto crutchfield.com and see what is there. They are able to sort out the sizes for speakers and they have a beginners guide if that applies to you. Oh, and for the absolute BEST sound, go to component speakers.

I'm very partial to Orian speakers myself. I have my second set of them in my car now. I originally had 2 400 Watt Cobalt 10's. but I got rid of those and went with 2 500 watt 15's! VERY loud. But awkward b/c of y large box. I have tog et a custome one built to amke it look right for the upcomming show season.

im not talking subs, im just talking speakers, i want good sound, good bass, good imaging, just overall awesome sound with out the use of subs. thanks

Yes, for midrange speakers, I have Kicker RMB8s and I can imagine the RMB6s can work well too. You probably will need tweeters with this because these speakers don't produce high frequencies.

I have some infinity kappa's in my jeep. I like them a lot. They can hit all the notes, highs, mids, lows. Take a look at those.

I have rockford fosgates up front in my ride and i love them to death, they hit high and can handle alot of decibles. I'm running a Premier DEH-P760MP head unit and i can crank it up all the way without any distortion. They will fit in the doors of the DSM's too. I have them base blocked too, but if you're not running a sub you might not want to go that route. but even when they were base blocked they sounded great.

Also your speakers will only preform as good as your head unit can pump out.

First off... your question is extremely vauge. It's like me coming up to you and asking you what the "best car is". It's purely opinion.

the BEST speakers are arguable between Image Dynamics Chameleons, OZ audio Matrix, Illusion Audio ND, Rainbow, Focal, Aura, CDT HD, etc... you're not going to find the BEST speakers at bestbuy or any local chain audio store.

Someone earlier said to use kicker RMB's as mids. That's no good. the RMB was designed and created as a shallow-depth IB midbass driver. It breaks up hardcore in the upper midrange frequencies, especially the RMB8.

My advice to you: Instead of coming on here and asking what other people think, you need to find out what YOU think. You need to go to all of the Non-chain audio stores (Don't go to best buy, circuit city, etc) that carry the "BEST" speakers and listen to each speaker they have to offer. You need to decide which ones You like the best, and You can only do that by going and listening to them.

Sorry, I couldn't resist....

Remember that when changing your speakers you need a head unit if you got infinity system amp, and if you do not want to do that you need to buy midrange speakers up front .

I bought infinity kapps 652.5i didnt put them in yet but they seem really good from a desctiption.

You might be better off getting the best speaker for your setup. Yeah you could go out and buy 300+ set of components and hook them up to your headunit but if they do not have the right amount of power going to them they will sound like crappola.

For instance I have MB Quart components and the minimum RMS for them is like 50-170 watts, or something like that. I barely make the 50 with my 4 channel amp. They sound ok, but would sound way better with more power. Underpowered speakers leads to distortion because you want to crank it up all the way to make it loud and not many (if any) amps are efficient at 80% power. So take the per channel RMS rating of whatever deck or amp you will be using to power the speakers and find some speakers that require the same or less power and listen to those.

If any audio wiseman think this is a bad way to choose please say so.

I agree with pinknuggit

The best is a matter of preference. I like Focal, Z6's, high end MB's, ALpine F1's.

Everyone of these speakers is power hungry. Car Audio can be as expensive as you want it to be. If you could tell us a budget, what kind of music you listen too, what you expect from the speakers in very discriptive terms. maybe someone will point you in the right direction.

Here is a good place to have a look around. I like the discriptive way they review.

For regular speakers (not subs) My vote goes for Infinity or Eclipse. I have not been disappointed by either. I went into a sound room at Custom Sounds, (one of the managers is in the local DSM club, so he knows his stuff) and had him compare the Infinities and Eclipses to almost every other common brand (alpine, pioneer, kenwood, etc.....) and it wasn't even close. I have Eclipses in my car, and Infinities in my Mom's Chrysler LHS (that car is a ghetto cruiser if I've ever seen one........) The sound quality on both is excellent. If you want to spend an obscene amount of money, I will agree that a set of Boston components would be a damn good investment (all the ones I have seen have been really expensive.)

Pinknuggit, once again I agree with you on this topic.

Look guys, some of us do this for a living or are very picky about audio reproduction in our cars. I for one like the Focal Utopias or K2powers. But as with about every other car, installation and tuning is what make them sound as good as they could. I had a $25K display in my store when I had it, and I would always tell my customers that the speakers would sound different in there car. And it goes both ways, sometimes the car sounds better, sometimes worse.

Honestly, just buy what you can afford and are willing to pay. Just make sure that everything is installed correctly by a real professional. Not trying to knock some people, but there is a big difference between a custom installer that works with good equipment and a kid that works for Best Buy or Circuit City and hasn't been installing as long.

It is all about making everything work good together in the car.
Good speakers are nothing without the proper deck and/or amplifer to go with them.
Good luck, and if you need somewhere to buy some Focals, hit me up with a PM and I will see what I can do for you. I still have my connections for getting equipment for awesome prices. :thumb:

I might just take you up on that Mack, forget the guy who started the thread.

That is if you don't mind of course.

Thanks

If I were you, I would go to a stereo shop were they have a few different kinds setup to listen to, pick you favorite, go to ebay, and pick up a brand new set cheap. Boston's are my preferred. The 3ways are awesome

I've got all Infinity speakers: Kappa Perfect 6.1 components in the front and Kappa 6xp's in the back... it sounds great. Good bass, all the doors shake, the mirrors shake, blah blah. Being powered by a Phoenix Gold Octane R 8.0:4 4 channel amp, and a Sony 7705 MP3/CD deck. I love it. My buddy has the Image Dynamic 6" fronts, just the woofer, and he really likes those. But I'm glad my money went to Infinity. I've listened to everything EXCEPT country on them and they sound great no matter what music i have playing.

Even better, look on ebay for the speakers. I got mine, and they were fairly inexpensive from ebay. Brand new.

PM me and let me know what you want, and I will get you a price. Or call me on my cell @ (509)361-9675.

Diamond Audio is really nice, I have there top end Hex series comps in my front, and in the rear I have there second best comps the M-661 . I love the way my system sounds, I have won many shows and the SQ is wonderful. Diamond Audio gets my vote :thumb:

I'm happy with my Diamond Audio M6's. I can't say how they compare with the "best" speakers out there (as I would never be able to afford those obscenely priced speakers), but they are decent. If you really want the very best speaker available on the market (which I have no idea what is), you had better have a very big budget for audio. I can tell you that MB Quarts and Infinity's are definitely not grouped with the top audiophile level speakers.
