Like the title implies, I'm looking for some opinions on what everyine thinks is the best cylinder head for making 700+ whp.

So far I've heard of these:

SBR stage 6
AMS Race Port
Magnus
JAM cnc ported
Buschur Stage 3
Fox Lake (shepherd's car)
???

I think you're going to be better off calling each one of them. It's much easier to get an idea of what they can do for you once you have them on the phone.

got a web site for Polk. I've conversted with darren (ffwd) quite a few times already

machv does too, but I haven't used them, so Im really just putting this out there.

Polk did the heads for John last year when teh car was breaking records with more weight. Fox Lake is local to John. Not saying which is better but I can attest to the work Polk does. I am a little biased though since he did my longblock for me. The head porting turned out very nice.

There all good, just fox lake has a "secret they keep about the bowl porting and camber shrouding" or so they say.

Thanks for all the posts sofar though

Thats just another excuse for them to jack the price up. Just kidding, they have done a few sets of heads for my dads mustang. Im sure you will be more than happy, let us know how you make out down the road.

Is'nt it nice how no one makes an aftermarket head for the 4g63 (ours not the evo's). But HONDA has like 6 companys making there on castings.

What are you talking about? What do you mean by "aftermarket"? Do you mean that the core is required for most companies to work on the head, instead of selling modified heads to the consumer? Please click the link below for another vendor:

I've lost count of how many 700+ WHP cars Buschur has whipped up, so them or Shep's new machinist would be my first choices.

I've also seen Mitch (Superata's) work and would also definitely consider his shop (engintecs) :dsm:

Doesn't everybody?

Just because shep is running a foxlake race head doesn't mean it would be the best setup for you. When it comes to headwork bigger isn't always better, especially if you don't have the setup to go with the headwork.

If you were to send a deposit on one till they came in, and talked to John (shep) you'd realize that the head isn't as crazy as you might imagine. In fact the exhaust ports are acutally smaller then the stage 6 polk head, just my 2 cents though
