bent valves? after i put new ones in?

just did a leak test, and it was leaking on each one valve. can it be the valve seals because i can not believe this is happening right now. Let me know whats the next approach

Was everything timed right. Also if you did not bleed the liters they could be pumped up and not letting the valve seal all the way. Did you lap the valve seats?

it might just be the valve seals, bc i thought the spring would push itself.. man... but, what do u mean by bleed the liters?

Did you check the valve guides for damage or cracks and as previously stated lap the valves in?? New valve seals?

from the way it sounds, its probably the valve head not sealing to the head properly. Best way to check it is to pull the head off and see if they are flush with the head. If not, bent valves. If the are then just a bad seal between the valves and the head.

Definitely make sure your timing is right. If not you will just keep bending valves.

Probably time to bring it to a machine shop and have them pressure test it and fix whatever was not done correctly. Was your timing good before you took it apart?

Ok, you pulled the head apart, lapped the valves, and assembeled the head.

You are working on a 420a head and not a 4g63. Correct?

Now the valves are leaking?

When you lapped the valves, did you have a nice grey ring on both the valve and seat? or just the valve? or just the seat?

If the head is warped .012 or more, the seats move in the head, and then the valves will not seal against the seat.

If this is the case, you will have a partial ring around the seat, and a full ring around the valve.

Now if the valve is slightly bent, you will get a full ring on the seat, and a partial ring on the valve.

I take it, the leak you speak of is from fluid testing the head.

I were you man I would take it to a machine shop and let them worry about it ### they got all the tools to do the work. If they tell you the valves are bent go to a junkyard and look for a good head ### if you get it repaired at he machine shop its gona be expensive. You can get a good at a junkyard for $100.

If you are doing it again, pour water on top of the bowls and see if the water leaks through (it should not leak through if you have done your lapping correctly).

Were intake and exhaust valves leaking when you did the leak down test? Or where was it leaking from

bleeding the lifters involves taking each lifter individually and removing the oil that's inside it so that the spring inside is free and ready to be reused.
if you do not bleed your lifters once you remove the camshafts, chances are they are solid and will bend valves once you turn the key.
i did this once. killed the fresh rebuild when i turned the key once. search "bleeding lifters". very important.
