Hey guys. I'm kinda pissed right now, because I received a speeding ticket last night, but I think I found a way to beat it, and I want to know what you guys think. First off, I'm from VA if that helps about the state laws...the cop pulled me over for doing 38 mph in a POSTED 25 mph zone. Now I have checked all up and down the street, and there is not a sign on that street that has a posted sign at 25 mph...but it is in a residential area. According to Virginia code 46.2-874 "The maximum speed shall be 25 miles per hour on highways in business or residence districts, except on interstate or other limited access highways with divided roadways or nonlimited access highways having four or more lanes and all state primary highways." But if it's not posted how are you supposed to know? What do you guys think?

I don't know about there, but in Indiana it is clearly stated in the driving manual that everyone must read before receiving their license. Was this in a subdivision, apartment complex, rural street or what?

Go there say sorry and it won't happen again and hope he gives you no points and just a fine.. Here in NY most of the time you pled not guilty and if the cop who wrote you the ticket doesn't show up that day for court they will throw it out.

I live in a rural area, and you really shouldn't be doing 38 mph in town.25 or 30 in town is fine, but 38.. Unless of course it's the road going out of town, and after the last turn off there is a 45 or 55 mph sign..Then that might get thrown lut..But like Spyder said, Usually if the officer doesn't show up, the judge will probly throw it out..

You sped, quoted the law that you broke, and are still trying to get out of it?

Hmmm...

Honestly dude you already said it was a residential area. Its common sense and common courtesy not to drive through someones neighborhood where their children play, at nearly 40 mph. Arround here the residential speed is 25mph. However because of young childrens tendancy to run out into the street without looking I never go over 20 mph in a residential. Take your fine and remember it next time your in someone esles neighborhood.

I honestly cant say Good luck with getting out of the ticket. I have no sympathy for people being reprimanded for possibly putting people in harms way, notably children. I think paying for the fine will help you remember next time.

One word BUSTED just pay the fine and move on.

Around here it doesn't state it but its 25 in residential areas...just show up to court and see what happens.

Having a license is a privilege not a right. You are responsible for knowing all traffic laws, posted or not.

There is no sympathy for speeders on DSMTuners.com. In fact most of those advocate STRICTER laws and making sure people who break the law pay. You are making us look bad by driving to endanger.

Why would you go 38mph in a residential area anyways?! I always go slow so the people can see my car, I love it when people stare in awe.
