im gettin that same kit next week form hopup racing. glad to see it all bolts up good. i was wondering how much of a pain in the ass it would be to install. looks good.

it is a pain in the ass kinda. well i had to use a cleaning bit and clean all around the hub to get the spacer to fint on and you have to cut the dust sheild off and maybe have to clean the stcok holes for the caliper but thats about it so it was not compltly bolt on if you didnt have a burring tool.

well ill probably have my mechanic do it for me since i never have that much time to spend on installing stuff on my car. but im sure he will be able to figure it out. does that kit come with any kind of instructions or a list of things you must do before installing??

As jtmcinder pointed out,
It's not the direction of the slots that matter, it's the direction of the internal vanes. The vanes are what help cool the rotors, not the slots.

I have this same kit and from hopup as well. But I have my rotor's the other way. I looked and the vanes and they are curving down on the front of the rotor(up on the back). Would that not be the best way to get air through it while rolling forward.

ya they are the right way i e mail baer the pics of them on my car and he emailed me back and said i installed them right the direction. so if yours are diff then i would change them man sorry for the bad news

Well i ordered my Baer kit today from Hopup Racing. $704 shipped. which is the best deal i have seen. i know that one guy posted that one place that is selling them for $699 with free shipping, but that doesnt include drilled, slotted, and zinc plated. Hopup Racing includes all that. anyways the only bad is news is that everywhere i called, including Baer, has that kit on back order. so expected ETA to recieve my kit 4 to 8 WEEKS!!!

o well, i guess you cant rush perfection. :thumb:

ok nm. it wasnt the site you post then, but there was a site i went to that was charging extra to have the rotors drilled, slotted, and zinc washed. I wish i could find the site becuase it was the biggest rip off i had ever seen. They was charging like an extra $100 for each one or something like that.

actually if you think about it, your not getting free shipping from that site you posted. Hopup racing sells their kits for $649 and shipping is $55 (from CA to VA) so that other site just jacks up the price a little to cover their shipping cost and then says you get free shipping to make you think your getting a "deal". Popular marketing technic, our sales floor uses a technic like that all the time. ROFL

Well i finally found out which site it was just sittin here bored looking for more parts to put in my engine.

http://www.machv.com/baerractracb.html

thats right, MachV charges an extra $150 for drilled, slotted, and zinc washed. which i think is a rip off, becuase doesnt the kit already come like that??? WTF not the mention the kit is almost $100 more. i just wanted to let everyone know.

I have the smaller Baer setup and mine look different as well...

I swear you guys do this every few weeks :)

The correct way is displayed on gstracer's car as well as the integra and the wide body 350z per brembo's email response I recieved a few years back after asking the same question myself.

dsm_illicious look man we dont want to bust balls and i wanted to know if i had them on backwards to so i could change them but if you dont belive us then e mail a pic of your setup to baer like i did and you will get the same answer from them that we are giving you sorry man but yours are on wrong. but email them if you want to REAL answer from the BAER yourself

Here are mine. GS-T with GSX wheels. I wasn't sure they'd fit with half the people saying they would and half saying they don't.

That's the correct answer.
Run them any way you like if they are straight vane.

This is taken directly from the tech tips section of the Baer Website. I too run the Baer Big Track kit, I have nothing but raves for the product.

Internally all Baer rotors are directionally ventilated and they must rotate in the correct direction of rotation to obtain proper airflow for cooling.

Externally modified Baer rotors employ a REVERSE SLOT or a REVERSE SLOT & DRILL pattern. This is current racecar practice and lowers the potential for "carbon smearing" or "transfer" from the pad material to the trailing side of the slots on the rotor. This is important because in some cases this "smearing" actually affects the rotational balance of the rotor and can cause a "shake" or "nibble" while braking.

OK, if that's the way it rotates, then that means the veins are arranged like this:

Yes. That drawing (nicely done) would be correct.

While 'carbon smearing' might sound good for sales there's a far greater reason for this pattern. And in reality the only one;

When you cross drill the rotor in this patttern you will get one hole in each vane pocket as the reverse pattern pulls out from center. Stop now and get a visual on that. IF the holes had been drilled 'with vane' then you'd have four holes in one pocket, then none in the next three or four pockets, then four etc. etc. Not a very good layout.

Now that the holes are put in the reverse pattern we get a hole in a pocket, followed by another, then another etc. But...let's put a gas slot in there now also! Obviously the gas slot cannot go counter to the other pattern very well so it too goes the same as the hole line does. Behold; the drilled and slotted rotor!

This may not always be the case however on NON directional rotor. When the vanes are straignt (think stock parts here) you can run the rotor either direction and have no impact on cooling or air flow. The drill patterns look a bit differen as well do to the web design inside of it.

In the end you could in fact run any of these any direction for a daily driver and you'll never know the difference. Only now you at least see why they are what they are.

Those are very hot; I'd hit it. Are your rear brakes stock?

... and i also have cross drilled slotted rears with SS lines all the way around with blue racinf fliud

Other than not mentioning what type of caliper he is running, I would say that they are not.

Here are my baer brakes.... 17x8 konig villians with 40mm offset. I'm running brembo rotors now and porterfield RS-4 pads.
