Alright... Somehow, during the last year, I misplaced my Boost Control Solenoid, and Schucks tells me it's a dealer only item. As some of you know, I'm doing my first engine swap, and I'm going from USDM to JDM out of necessity (money issues; the USDM died). Well, on the JDM motor, on a bracket were two small solenoids. They both have three nipples, with one on both capped off. They had, on the two nipples left, vacuum hoses attached, which ran to various parts of the motor. Well, I took one off and found that it fit the BCS power socket perfectly, and so I attached it to the Air Box bracket where the stock BCS is supposed to be. The thing is... I don't really know if it's a BCS or not. It just happens to fit.

Are their any ways to find out if this little thing is the correct solenoid? If it's not, and I can't find my original, does anyone have one I could buy? How much should I expect for one?

two solenoids on the same bracket, sounds like the evap and purge control solenoids that go above the engine.

Anyways, you dont even need a BCS if you have a MBC... or even if you dont, just run a straight vac line until you do.

I don't have an MBC yet, so I've had to hybrid my vacuum setup to accomidate that, while taking out my emissions. Anyhow, what exactly is a straight vacuum line? If I don't need this BCS, I'll take it out and won't worry about it.

I'm hoping to have this running by tomarrow afternoon. What's a straight vac line exactly? I can provide a diagram of my vacuum setup if you'd like.

even if you don't use the bcs you may still need to have it plugged in or the ecu may throw a code.

Is this what you're saying to do?:

Awesome, thanks a million! Will my computer throw a fit now that I got rid of all my emissions? (not just the BCS) Apologies for the many questions.

some 1g's will throw a code if its not electrically plugged in.

most 2g's will throw a code if its not electrically plugged in.

if you need one, i have one off my 2g. throw me a pm if interested.

The only thing to throw a fit if you remove the emissions stuff, is the emission tester. Your ecu might throw a code, but it wont affect how the car runs. But, its the 2Gs again, that like to throw codes for every little thing.

Emissions tester? I'm not quite sure what that is.

To clarify what I did, I didn't disconnect any electronicts, or take anything out. I simply pulled off the vacuum lines to all the emissions stuff, and routed the necessities back in.
