Basic questions from a newbie

Alright, ive finally got a 97 GSX and had a few questions. Ive had a few other eclipse but have always wanted a GSX and finally got one but im new to having a turboed engine and all. For starters as soon as i get it im doing the maintenance, just gets pricy as im sure you all know. After though ive been told to get a turbo timer, i was wondering if this is true and what exactly it does and if theres other things that include a turbo timer in it since theres a lot of electronics with these cars. I also have read about the timing belt and am going to change that but where do you get a OEM belt thats not from mitsubishi? i have more questions but ill start with these, thanks fir the help.

On a side note I wish I could get that brad penn oil locally.

Yeah...the BP oil is some good stuff.

Seeing as how you are in the south, you may want check with some of your local circle track specialty race shops and see if they carry it. I found it locally here at Smiley's Racing, and I get it by the case for around $4.50 a quart.

Alright so dont really need a turbo timer. ok now everyone is talking about oil, what about royal purple? ive heard thats a really good oil, since id be doing an oil change soon as i get it just to be safe should i use an oil additive? do they even do anything or what? another question is i hear a lot about or see a lot of eclipse with gauges, are there really important ones or is it just looks and could you get some kind electronic device that shows all those gauges in one device?

There are a LOT of threads on this subject here, with many different opinions. Or you could just read the document that I linked to in post #16, and that Justin linked to again in post #22.
