Help me make a basic mainenance list for any DSM. Thanks!

Oil/Filter Duh...
Coolant
Coolant Lines
Trans Fluid
Timing Belt
Spark Plugs
Plug Wires
Air Filter

might wanna put some new fluid in the transfer case too.

also you might want to do a motor flush, to clean out the gunk and carbon built up in your motor.

I guess another would be fuel filter and maybe an injector cleaning for those higher milage cars.

I would expand to include ALL belts (timing, balance shaft, and 3 accessory).

How about the other fluids? (power steering, brake, clutch or auto tranny)

How often should you change those balance shafts?

Balance shaft belts should be replaced with the timing belts. They are often called "timing belt B" or something goofy like that in the manuals. They may last longer than the timing belt, but when you've gone through all that work to get to the timing belt, it's not really any more effort to get to the balance shaft belt. It's certainly not worth skimping out on the $40 or so that the belt costs. You don't want it to break and take out the timing belt, too, which I've heard is pretty common.

I will tell u details of the car,
its Eclipse GSR-4 1990, no turbo, not also 4wheel, everything stock.

now problem is that when I press or leave my accelerator my car give jerks


and if the car is in 1 or 2nd gear, and i leave cluth and accelerator it starts to groove, with A/C on its more!! and grooving is alot!!!

Tell me if I am clearing my points, if not then i can tell you the way you want.

if there is a better tell me! i went to seafoam website, there saying something i couldn' get it , am not so technical in my car yet!

You want the super sea foam cleaning? Poor a bottle in a full fuel tank, poor half a bottle in your engine oil and the other half divided into all 4 cylinders and let it sit over night. Vacume out as much of the solution from the spark plug holes. And the 3rd bottle suck it into your engine through a vacume line on the intake manifold while a friend keeps the rpms at 1500-2000 RPM. Prepare for a smoke screen 4 blocks wide after that cleaning as all of the carbon in your engine goes out the exhaust pipe. Change your oil afterwards!

Ok sorry, I'll go more in depth. You're gonna want 3 bottle of Sea Foam. Poor the first bottle into your empty gas tank right before you fill it full of gas at the gas station. The second bottle of Sea Foam, poor half of the bottle into your engine oil through the oil filler cap on top. Take the spark plugs out of your car, poor the last half of that second bottle into each spark plug hole and distribute the half bottle evenly between all four. Let that sit over night. In the morning take a shop vacuum or any wet/dry vac and hoot up a small tub to the hose so you can suck the sea foam back out of your spark plug holes. Just get as much as you can out of there, if there's a little left it won't hurt anything. Put your spark plugs back in and hook the plug wires back up. Take the vacuum hose off the the blow off valve. It's the hose that goes from the front/middle of the intake manifold to the top of the blow off valve. Leave the hose attached to the intake manifold and put the other end in the hose inside of the third bottle of sea foam after the car is started and idling. Sit in your driveway and have someone in the car keep the gas pressed while the engine stays between 1000 and 2000 rpms. Just sit there until the whole bottle get's sucked into the vac hose and into the engine. It's gonna smoke like crazy while you're doing it so just watch and laugh. Afterwards, before driving the car at all, change your oil and filter. You can also use Gunk out or some other type of engine flush that you can buy at the store before putting new oil in also.

Now all of these aren't necessary. You can add sea foam in your gas or just put it through a vac line but when it's only a few bucks a bottle, you might as well clean everything you can. Hope this helps

Edit: Wait you're non turbo, you don't have a blow off valve vac line.

Non turbo guys, what's a good vac hose to use?

to continue on with more maintenance:
fuelfilter
(consider replacing all vac lines with silicon)
don't just empty/refill coolant, flush that bastard.
check brake pads, and tire wear replace as needed.
check other fluid levels, like power steering
get the zerk fittings on the chasis pumped full of grease
that's all i can think of at the moment

I used seafoam in my 6g72 awhile back. It worked. What type of sparkplugs and plugwires would you all suggest? Especially if an upgrade to a 16g will be soon.
