1995 gst auto, went to check base timing but it seemed high, no difference when grounding tan connector, then I remembered that the safc-2 was hooked up, would that advance timing at Idle?

Well then I have a problem, timing lite shows like 30 degrees, warmed up and tan connecter grounded, I dont have the plastic timing cover installed, I went off the cam gear alignment and a set back timing lite

In your auto, if your idle is a bit high (for whatever reason) you can pull your
handbrake hard & put it in Drive to drop your revs to 900, then set your timing
at 5 with your cas. Now use your safc & wideband 02 for your a/f.
Cheers !

You must be reading it wrong or its crazy advanced. I dont see how you will get a good reading without the cover on.

Someone one this site shows how to set timing with no cover using cam gears .even has a nice video of it, this motor does not have a cas that is adjustable
