Ok well i had a huge oil leak and i took off all my belts and i went to go take off my balencer belt and it wasnt there WTF I have heard of balencer belt mod to remove it but then there would be no sproket or anything but it was all there everything BUT the belt ???? would this contribute to leaking oil everywhere and what does this belt do what kinda damage was happeing with it off... also would it fix my oil leak my oil pump sproket was off a couple teeth on the allignment that could have been the cause too... and one last question when i put on my timing belt do i have to make the tool to tension the belt cause i didnt use it to take it off? thanx for any help

well your already this far. do a balace shaft removal kit, its worth it. also no you dont have to have the tool. what i use is a big pair of pliers to force the hydraulic tensioner down, then take a very small allen wrench and place it in the hole to keep it down, and leave it there until everything is timed and then just pull the allen. also, no the BS gear being there w/ out the belt will not contribute to the oil leak.

you can get a balance shaft elim kit at http://slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=1114&
The benefits are that timing belt changes are easier, and theres less to go wrong in the engine. no more chance of the BS belt backing out and killing a head, it happened to me and it sucks ass! also you dont need to time the oil pump any more, since the oil pump always is pumping and it only times the Balance shaft. I just did this kit 2 days ago and it will only take one night, just make sure you have a proper bearing installer.

hmm... ok ill eliminate it... now imma use some degresser and find this huge oil leak i have... another quick question those little rubber pieces on the timing area covers are shot.. mine are hard like plastic do i really need new ones or does it not even matter

just order a complete lower end gasket set from SBR for $99, it comes with all the gaskets you will need including the new rubber for the timing cover, and oil pan and everything you need!

Before you go and order parts, The balance shaft can be eliminated with the sprocket still there. This is normally done when the BS are eliminated with the engine in the car. (Its a pain to get the front BS out) The oil is prob coming from the bolt hole where the BS belt tensioner was originally. Fine a short 12mm(i think) bolt and locktite it in that hole and you should be fine. If the balance shaft belt was removed with both shafts still in there there would be alot of vibration.

Also with the balance shafts removed the oil pump gear does not have to be lined up. It originally has to be lined up b/c the rear balance shaft runs off the oil pump.

what if i leave front BS along? I took rear BS out but it's pain to take front BS out so i just left it in there. Will it hurt my engine even if there is no BS belt anymore?

As long as you have the "stubby" shaft in the rear(replacing the rear shaft) the front can be left in there. People do it that way all the time. Did you put a bolt where the balance shaft belt tensioner was?
